Why is it that White Noise was back behind the goal  ?? it would have been better to have had them in one of the main stands and to get everyone else involved around them. Could see them trying hard but it looked a bit pathetic to be honest, one little section making a noise that could hardly be heard elsewhere. Bad planning

Well to be fair they shouldn't need to do shit. Why do they need to plan everything? Why cant the crowd just get into it regardless? Answer: Auckland.

Auckland gets one game a year maybe, so I dont expect them to be up and running with chants etc.

Most the chants are pretty basic.

Very entertaing game. there were lots of positives and a few negatives to come out of it. Considering the AW,s had only one practice session then you can excuse their rustyness.

The UK guys were class. Smith, Wood and Winston have really developed their game to another level. Nelsen was...Nelsen.

Defensively the formation did not work. 3 at the back left acres of room out wide.  The Jamaicans exploited it with long diagonal balls and had too much pace for Lockhead and Brockie tracking back to cover. Ricki will certainly be looking to tighten this area of play

Brown is not the future for the AW,s. Keat looks to have loads of potential.  He should be given as much international experiance as possible starting with the Olympic campaign. He will offer us more value heading towards the 2014 WC than an aging Brown.

Rockarse is a little gem! It brought tears of joy watching him and the other youngsters in the first half. Sure Kosta looked a little rusty and Weemac was too isolated at times but their potential is enormous.

A 3-2 loss is not the end of the world. Jamaica are a good solid side who have some strong athletic players. But there is no world beaters in their team. It won't be easy but if we are properly prepared, get our selection and tactics right then we have a real good chance agaisnt who ever we playoff for the Brazil 2014 WC

I thought the AW's had a great game, those Jamicans looked a big bunch of buggers but pretty static in the first half.

You've got to applaud the AW's, I continue to be impressed.

Here's my take on the game along with a few snaps I could manage given the light and my inability to get close enough... http://in-the-back-of-the.net/2012/03/02/happy-leap-day/

I thought it was a fascinating game. Didn't notice Jamaica too static, I thought they had a flow to their game that almost had a Brazilian flare to it at times. The All Whites were good too. Not sure about that 3 man defense though...

Either SigmUnd or Reid have to adapt then...and both could.  probably Reid more so as he ranged up the right anyway.

A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

Back from the game, boy does Chris Wood have some class about him, that guy is going to be some player if he keeps developing this way. Does all the little things right, wins ball in the air and on the ground, makes good runs, always looked threatening. also saw him dropping back to collect ball a number of times when it wasn't coming forward to him. And he scored a nice goal.

Keat looked good, other than his first pass which went straight to a Jamaican, but he looks promising for the future.

Brockie was awful 2nd half, looked slow and struggled to complete a pass.

And the referee, god help us surely there must be someone of a better standard than that muppet???? No pen for us early on, booked one of them for diving whenwe could hear Reid hit him from the stands, numerous bewildering foul calls, yellows where there was none and no yellows when there should have been. Sorry but he was gash.

White Noise nice n loud from the lower West stand, also heard the East stand getting going a few times too.

I thought the diving call was possibly ok? looked like the guy had left his feet well before making any contact with Reid...

Brockie was awful, especially in the 2nd half. He also had a great chance to tee up an unmarked Chris Wood on the edge of the area

Agree. Brockie is frustrating, great in parts mixed with woefulness.

I'm going to be harsh on Chris Wood here and say that as good as he was, with all the chances and possession we had in the first half, possibly with a performance from Smeltz (Or at a stretch Killen or Fallon) really taking responsibility or making that little bit extra we should have gone into the break ahead, and he needed to be the one.

He combines bloody well with the others around him- remember him and wee mac at the end of the away Bahrain leg- good times. But still in a very small forward line he is the player that needed to dominate the box and make the opening I think or turn a half chance into a full chance.

- Ditch the back 3. Better to have players out of position (Smith and/or Reid) in a back 4 than to give the opposition that much space out wide.

And lo- seems this is to come about:

"We can now look at playing a different formation," said Herbert. "There are alternatives to the back three we have used recently."

If he does indeed have citizenship, I say give the flick to both Warner and Paston and sign Moss and Imray.

i agree

i guess that because most assumed he was ineligible for nz, that there was little debate about him being overlooked for the all whites with moss and gleeson unavailable, whereas he was eligible and probably quite keen for selection!

if Imray is as good as everyone seems to make out, whay hasn't he got the callup to international level - he's been in NZ long enough to fulfill any residency/citizenship criterai - has he just not changed passports?

he only became eligible recently

personally, i think he's good enough, definitely the best domestic option for the AW's

would be interested to hear how others rate him

i guess now it's down to what ricki thinks of him, clearly he think's he's not too bad because he has him bench at the phoenix from time to time

He just got the citizenship a few weeks ago, you can't represent a country without having its citizenship.

Fat Sam has a regular column in the London Evening Standard and yesterday he used a chunk of it to slam the AWs for bringing back Reid for this match. Apparently Reid got concussion and he had to sign an emergency fullback as a result lol.
