Yea I agree. If it as on espn then id feel safer about whats happening.
Anyway its still 2-1 at the half.

Were we expecting a win out of this game? I know its a friendly but in my mind I had us on even terms with our team a slight edge. But the heat could work in Favour of the thai

I think the heat and humidity works in the same way that altitude works for the south Americans.  Still in my mind we need to win this for the psychological factor leading into the bigger games later this year (remembering we lost our last game also (Fiji)).

There's gotta be live coverage somewhere. Ridiculous.

Yeah I think they definitely need a morale boosting win.
Even if we can fight our way and play some great football for a draw.

Would be great to see lots of goals.

And yeah I think the humidity is going to play a factor, but I think it would take more effect at the latter stages when fitness is tested.

Guess there is going to be lots of subs with it being a friendly unless RH wants to keep pushing the 1st side

I've been looking through these live Thai TV channels: http://www.thaidirr.com/thaitv/

But can't find it (that I know of. Its in Thai...)

Admittedly we have a number of top players out but I still expect a win and a good performance from our boys.

I'd hope for at least a draw. We have a class side out there and if we can't put away Thailand it doesn't bode so well.

I agree. Hopefully we'll come back Firing.
2nd Half has started

51' and it's still 2-1.  Hopefully our goal was a spectacular one and not a penalty.

Haha Agreed

It will probably be a piece of great individual skill from Mulligan

Interesting that he is good enought for international footie but not good enough for the Phoenix... that aside I don't care who scores as long as someone does.

He does usually play quite well for NZ which is why it is surprising he didn't bring that energy to the nix..

And yeah I just want a goal. 10 mins to go.
Smeltzy to equalize then Bright to win in stoppage

We are 79th in the world and they are 118th.  I know the ranking system's pretty flawed but still.  This is an absolute disgrace.  I seriously hope this website we are using has just mixed it all up but unlikely.

Unfortunately the site seems pretty reliable with all the other scores so unless they have just made a mistake then we just lost 3-1. pfft.

Hopefully video footage will be available by the time I'm awake

Final Score
Thailand 3 : 1 New Zealand

that sucks, but we need games, so this gives us an idea on what we need to work on which looks like a lot of things!!! Bring on Spain!!!

Oh no, if this is the best we can do for Thailand, 09 looks like a bad year.

Sure does. I'm sure the heat played a part... but a lot of football playing countries are a lot hotter and more humid than NZ so we have to learn to deal with it if we want to compete. I'm sure we can improve and more matches help, but I definitely expected a win or draw. 3-1 is relatively convincing. Wonder which NZer scores. My money is on Smeltz...

Score 3-1 to thailand, interesting note= Weight wen i left hotel to go to game 84kgs, weight after 6 chicken skewers, 2 beers, a large coke at half time and a kebab on the way home= 80kgs, the humidity and heat cannot be described. sweating is an understatement, (dont tell nightz though as he will be here in a flash on a new weight loss programme callled 1 nght in bankok with happy ending). Our goal was ok, bit of luck then good composure to beat the last  man and score. As far as the game goes i think 3-1 is a bit generous to them. 2-1 would have been a more fair score. The sooner we get moss back the better, thats all you can say about the keeping display. It was interesting that both teams used 5 subs, and a sign said that it was their #10 testimonial game!!! there was a presentation to him at half and full time, he must be some sort of thai legend. Well lets all hope that the game on the 31st Vs thai b is much better for our boys. will post a score here after the game as it def wont be on t.v (you wouldnt know there was a game tonight, thats bankok i guess).
Cheers

anyone know?

Kris Bright got the NZ goal. Good on him. As expected, the excuses were all about the heat (and from the sounds of it Paston didn't do so well?). Fair point, but doesn't help when we have to play an Asian team in equally as hot conditions in the playoff.

NZ football has put out a release about the match on their website.

On the www.nzsoccer.com site
RH says the players are "honest" about their performance; I.e. Easy defensive errors & lack of match fitness.
He also wanted them to experience heat.
So essentially the All Whites need time together and time on the park. edward l2009-03-29 08:44:56

Not a great result. Hopefully we learnt something from this.
I can't imagine playing a game at 6:30pm in Bangkok. It would be like running behind a slow moving 40 year old diesel bus.

Yep, just a pity there are no Asian nations that might be coming here for some training camps that would be happy to play us...

Why do people think it will be stinking hot where we play  the Asian play-off? The mean temperatures in november in North Korea,South Korea,Iran,Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan range from 7C  in South Korea to 21C in Saudi Arabia. One of these would be our likely opponents.

Ricki Herbert is bullet proof!!The All whites and Phoenix are poor yet he trots out lame excuse after excuse. We need a real coach who works solely with the national team. The whole system from top to bottom is sh*te!!

Humidity will be a factor though.  Hopefully we will play our leg of the World Cup qualifier in Dunedin or somewhere cold, wet, and miserable so that the conditions will be terrible for the away team.

Hopefully Ricki is using this trip as a sly way to check out some of the Thai talent and see if any could be Phoenix material.

Not a great result but ultimately it doesn't matter. As long as we at least got some sort of combinations going or got used to the conditions the game has been a success. It's all about two games later this year.

Herbert said it was crucial to experience the testing conditions New Zealand would likely face in the away leg of the World Cup playoff against a yet-to-be-determined Asian nation later in the year.

This is what we need. It doesnt matter who we get in October-November, were going to get the heat,

Can someone please give NZF a geography lesson? We are quite likely to be playing in Tashkent, Seoul or Pyongyang, where it will be rather cold and not at all humid...
