I think AW may play with Germany, Serbia (same group with Aussies) before World Cup
& Uruguay, Chile

I think we should work in with Australia and invite a European,South American country and the All Whites in a quadrangular tournament in Aussie and New Zealand before they travel to a camp.Lets send off the All Whites with the same Enthusiasm we showed at the Cake Tin?

Doubt it.

Three for me, and two for them.

f**k China- that's a waste of time.  2 x South American games at altitude, plus a couple of Euro friendlies  in S.A.

Must've missed something, but what happened to that Argentina game ? Probably a FIFA website mistake I assume..

A mistake. Along with all the other 'friendlies' we have had scheduled down the years.

Three for me, and two for them.

Sweet, cheers. Thought it was a pretty weird time for a friendly anyway.

Yes, Bolivia at La Paz could be a good gut busting buildup match to prepare for altitude effects.

Thats if FIFA have allowed games there again or are they still not playing there?

Russia or Croatia would be good. If, say, they happened to come play in Australia, we could sneak in the back door and organise another game against either.

Perhaps Poland - rekindle memories of NZ's only ever win at a FIFA Men's tournament.

As for a COMNEBOL country, I don't really want us going to South America. I'd rather have us playing in the conditions we will face at the World Cup if possible. A team like Ecuador would be okay I guess.

If we want a test we should play Chile or Uruguay.

would be good to get in on that Croatia bandwagon too.

atleast Ricki will have thousands of hours worth of qualifying footage for the teams in our group.

they will know piss all about us!!!!probably that and our aggressive style are our only advantages

If we are going to be based in the UK, maybe Ireland could even be an option for a game

They are definitely going to need some training or games at altitude. Looks like they will be arriving in SA real early....so that will give them a chance to get acclimitised to altitude.

The paper said they were perhaps going to be based at an EPL club....possibly Blackburn. Having a base in Europe makes it harder to get games against sth American sides unless they are touring. But they should be able to pick up games against the likes of Slovenia, Greece, Serbia.

The talk was of up to 6 or 7 warm up games. My worry would be about the depth of our squad. The first eleven are OK. Below that we are really scraping the bottom of the barrel. To play 6 games against high quality opposition is a tough ask....especially if Nelsen, killen etc are not released early.

There is no point in playing a good European team like Serbia without your best players. Getting thrashed does nothiing for the teams confidence. It also does nothing for developing your attack if you are struggling to get possession.

Bloody exciting times if you are a kiwi football fan. The AW's are going to get heaps of media coverage. Hopefully all the warmup games will be on TV.  Can't wait

or we play against France and as soon as we get it in the box , pick it up and run over the line and look bemused when ref blows his whistle.

and later when asked about it, we just reply with "I thought thats how footballs played here in France"

Drew 1-1 with you a few years ago didn't we?  I think it was Scotland.

I love this article.  Van Hattum wreaks of professionalism.

I think you can play friendlies wherever you want to.  No reason why we couldn't.

From what I read, though, some of these games (the ones proposed for South America) will be earlier & without the European-based players.  This is in March.  They'll then try to play a couple of EPL clubs and teams that have played Slovakia in Europe, before heading to South Africa.

I would like to see a game against Germany. Plus with Aussie in their pool it might be easier to entice them

The reason may be because 90% of their squad is based in Europe, so to get them to play NZ over this way would be expensive.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

FIFA did a quick U-turn on that. They're playing there, in fact beat the Argies 6-1 there in the qualifying campaign.

No you might be thinking of the All Whites vs Dunfermiline at the stadium ,with the Pars (Dunfermline) winning 1-0 in what was possibly the worst game of football I have ever had the misfortune to watch and being scots Ive seen some grim football in my days!

The answer to life's problems are rarely found at the bottom of a beer glass - but it's always worth a look.

Why would Aussie play us? It would cost them an arm and a leg to get their players here and we arent the quality of opposition they are going to want to play. Clue up please

Why dont we play the USA in a warm up game??

Surly that would be easier to arrange?

You got it!
NZFC is an embarrassment. I could only hope the WC money is used to close down the circus.
Two shows of that.
We should look at playing anyone from Europe who would have us.
