I think it's safe to say there will be toys thrown if it's not broadcast here. In fact, would sky be that stupid? Surely not. First games after Halbergs etc.

Fuck this stupid game

I'd rather not have the All Whites exposed to radiation.

On the other hand, we could end up with mutant players packed with superpowers.

Three for me, and two for them.

"Japan Football Association (JFA) general secretary Kozo Tashima confirmed overnight (NZT) a match against Montenegro on March 25 at the Shizuoka Stadium, southwest of Tokyo, and against the All Whites in the capital four days later would go ahead.

"It would mean something to stage these games, more than ever," the Kyodo news agency reported Tashima saying at the JFA headquarters in Tokyo. "

If Japan still wants us to play then I hope we go without any angsting over safety, player availablity etc

Under the circumstances it should be considered an honour to play the Japanese at this time.

Agree. The risk of another sizable quake while there is very small. The risk of being harmed in such a quake is extremely low. Although player availability may have nothing to do with the quake.

Surely this game should be known as the Seismic Bowl or similar.

Seriously, as t_x says, if the friendly were here I would certainly hope that the visitors would come "without any angsting over safety, player availablity etc".Doloras2011-03-14 14:33:07

To be honest, if I was selected in the AW I would still def go. But to say there is little chance of another sizable quake is just silly, we should now know this by our own experience. Should be a very good way to raise funds for Japanese quake aid if advertised right.

Both these games could be used as fundraisers for earthquakes.. Since NZ, China and Japan have all had quakes in the last few days.

So we have both a seismologist and a QC on the list now? Are you Ken Ring in disguise?

The team would only be there a couple of days, hundreds of kms away from the epicenter of the quake. You don't have to be a seismologist or a nutter to make a pretty basic summation.

Looks like it probably wont go ahead now with Japan having rolling blackouts.

edit - Heard that on Radio Live but have not actually been able to find any evidence of this on any of several NZ news websites, jfa.or.jp or nzfootball.co.nz

rj big earthquakes like that can trigger other earthquakes on seperate fault lines elsewhere, both seismologists and nutters will tell you that. Please do some research.timmymadden2011-03-15 12:24:34

Tokyo is 400 kms away from the epicenter and the same faultline will not result in a deadly quake in Tokyo. No seismologist can tell you with certainty exactly what the odds are. Yes this could have heightened stress (or equally relieved it) between the three way plate intersection that could cause a devastating quake in Tokyo. But the odds of this happening while the All Whites would be there are still extremely low. Please drop the condescending tone.
