I see that Clapham didn't make it with newcastle. Where do we reckon he will end up? Why are the nix not looking into it? Does Ricki not rate him? Apparently he impressed the boys at training in s.a. Not the sort of player Ricki wants? I'm baffled!

He trialled with the 'nix last year and they asked him to work on some things and come back.  Then he made the AW's squad.  He hasn't made Newcastle or NQF (who he was meant to be trialling with as well) so maybe the Phoenix staff had it right ?  Maybe he is the 'All White' being signed.

He's certainly on the radar but as he plays as a wide attacking player then Leo, Daniel, Marco and Ifill would see him down the pecking order and without a youth league side getting little game time - much like Costa but without covering one of the youth spots. Hard News2010-07-14 22:54:28

Where was there talk of an All White being signed? and can't he play in the centre too? And would he start ahead of Diego in your books?

Interesting if Ricki rates him behind Marco and Costa but didn't take them to the W/C.....although Marco was injured I believe

What are you basing that argument on? Marco and Costa were/are youth players for the Phoenix.

Jezza Christie is more likely than Clapham as he actually got reasonable game time with the AWs, but then we jnow he wasn't good enough to be retained.....

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

Outrageous! I'm sorry, but as one of the most perfect pop tunes ever made the original of Up The Junction will never be bettered. And definitely not by Goldfinger.

Very cool for him, but more importantly gives himself some exposure, a lot of young kids will now know "Ryan Nelsen, Mark Paston and Aaron Clapham"

I think he's good enough to play for a League Two team...did he do any other trial except for Jets one?

North Queensland Fury also showed some interest, but can't remember now if actually trialled with them.

He also spent a few weeks with the Phoenix during last season when he was told to go and work on a few things.

I think he could play(maybe not for a regular spot) as a sub for a league two team(like Barnet,Stockport or Macclesfield)...if he can't play there how will he become a professional player?

hopefully he kicks bottom again this year and gets picked up in A-League. I thought he was excellent when I saw him for Canterbury last season and worthy of a crack at something a step up.

I don't know what you expect. He would be the worst player in the squad who plays at the lowest level in the squad. Three minutes at the end is all I expected. And I doubt he's frustrated. He plays ASB Premiership and he's playing against China!

I just think it is a waste of time. Personally, I would not have picked him for the All Whites at all yet but if you are going to pick you should give him a fair go. He didn't even get on for the Phoenix, did he?

No because if he did it would have made him eligible for Canterbury for the next 28 days. He was only there to provide cover in case of injury.

Are you a Canterbury supporter? Do I really have to compare David Mulligan to Aaron Clapham. Auckland City > Canterbury United. David Mulligan has played professional football.

So what happens if the All Whites had only been allowed to play three subsitutes? we don't bother picking any more because they won't get on? We were playing class and the side was starting to gel. Bringing on Clapham early may have ruined that.

That time is slipping away! Clapham really has to get a professional contract next season. I've seen both of them play and I think Mulligan has had a bigger impact in the national league. Clapham needs Lancaster back at the dragons.
