Thank you. Bahrain made me doubt us sometime, extremely fast on their feet compared to us but just didn't keep the ball and make chances. Better luck next time.

I felt for one of their fans, he was in tears after the game. I think most of us can relate to feeling like that after a very important game. I hope his awesome friends cheer him up. Their fans did really well at the game. THeir team must have noticed their efforts. Lonegunmen2009-11-14 23:29:25

Yes, please stick around, you will be a welcoming addition to our forum. Beside we need a fan inside the AFC to give us the latest on the other countries for us.

Well considering they have done all the hard work (Like 15+ games) to get here and after their disappointment from last WC I would find it hard to match that as a Kiwi football/sport fan.

When you think about it, between the two sets of real fans that were at the game, there was only one winner - Football. The beautiful game at its best.

Have really enjoyed all your posts Mr Bahrain. You are a very good ambassador for your country. Obviously I'm ecstatic with the NZ win but I do feel sorry for the Bahrain boys. I've watched most of their games and was so impressed with their spirit and never-say-die attitude.

You're a great guy Mr. Bahrain.  Always good to hear from you.  It was a tough match and your boys can be proud, they played well.

Spoke to a few Bahraini's in McDonalds after the game.  Poor chaps were crestfallen but still really friendly.  Top blokes all.

Amazing post, mate. I could never do that if we lost. Have no animosity towards you guys at all even though a few of your players rolled around a bit too much. Being gracious in defeat isn't an easy thing to do. Good luck next time - i'm sure we'll both be there in 2014!!

Tena koe Isa. It has been a pleasure over the last month.  As a few have said, I do not believe I could be as gracious as you at this time; but with fans like you, I could.  Thank you for all your comments and news. I hope you can visit NZ one day, hopefully when a Phoenix game is on.

Hard to admit it but yep, no way I would hve been able to post such a gracious congratulations to Bahrain had we lost/drawn. Would have been too heartbroken. Mr. Bahrain you have taught many of us important lessons in sportsmanship. The result of the game dis not bring any years to my eyes but reading your post did!

Here is a copy of the email I sent to Mr. Bahrain before I slept last night:

Assalamu alaikum.

While I am extremely HAPPY!!!!! I am also very sad for Bahrain. I wish we could have both qualified. It is so sad to know someone must not qualify ;(

We met amazing Bahraini people in Wellington and the memories are in my heart always.

The players were nice and the staff also very nice and warm. Most supporters also very friendly and one day (God willing) maybe I will visit to Bahrain.

(Thanks to God) I was able to meet some Bahrainis after the game and we had big hugs and kisses. We feel your sorrow even while we celebrate.

Brother I will be in Wellington until Monday. After this I hope we can catch up. Tomorrow there will be a victory parade and celebration in Wellington and we will go home.

I will sleep now my brother. . It has been an incredible journey.

Wassalamu alaikum to you and all your family.
Ahmad and family.

And this is my answer to you  Ahmed especially
and for all members in this forum in general ....
alsalam alykum  Ahmed
Thank you very much for your email, make sure that I am never sad,  contrary to, I'm very proud of the Bahrain team, you can imagine that Bahrain is one of the smallest nations of the world, and have great team and  I believe that  which provides best on the pitch, be the winner.
we will never give up, and we will try again, and tenth time, it does not matter, it is important to enjoy the beautiful football.
Accept the situation as joy to win, I accept defeat in the spirit of sports.
For the banner, yes, I saw it very well in television, as well as my family, I've created this banner very close to you.
I am honored to visit  Bahrain, try to come, I'll be your brother here, I really hope to see you here.
New Zealand became a part of my planning of the countries that intend to visit .
My brother, I am delighted to qualify, you have the all right to joy,  enjoy the days of victory, and make sure that this is football, winning and losing, but it's the best we got acquainted with people and good friends like you.

Yeah top notch stuff mate. Really showing some sportsmanship.

Met a few Bahrain fans after the game, they were devastated as you would expect, but still very very polite and kind. Seems like a really top country.

All Aboard the Phoenix/ All Whites Bandwagon!!

lol. We were always going to use our physical advantage so with a card happy ref, why wouldnt bahrain try and play it up a bit? It wasnt that bad anyway, some of them were actually hurt. Ankles and legs get injured a lot more than anywhere else for a reason.

Im stoked, but you do have to feel sorry for Bahrain.
And whoever was booing them off, poor form!

Thank you all of Bahrain - I met many of your people in the last few days and they are a credit to your country and culture. My only sorrow about this wekeend is that someone had to miss out, and that it happened to such a gracious and honorable nation. You'll be back and I am glad for your friendship to us.

It was good having the Bahrain supporters here, some of them congratulated us as we left the stadium. Good stuff. Bahrain will get their chance in the World Cup one day, don't worry about that.

Great to see Bahrain show such good sportsmanship after their loss.
Really liked the Bahrain supporters - it would have been great if we both could have qualified, but that's the way the game goes...
