I think the caption below should say Dave Dobbyn on Herbs. How else do you explain that shirt?

"So you're saying that pizza is for people who don't like food?"

No, I'm saying that Super Supreme is for people who don't like pizza, just as Dobbyn is music for those who don't like music.

What a convincing argument!

So what's your alternative mr music?
Its quite possible that your music taste is arse too
I'd put $100k on it that it is and since music is personal taste I'll be the judge

Music is not "personal taste", it is simply "good taste" and "bad taste". You either have good taste in music or bad, there are no inbetweens.

They are role models for our kids though Buffy.

Yeah, but the kids today (for the most part) won't listen to the music that we do anyway so it won't make one jot of difference on our kids what music the AW's play.

You're not ruling your kids with an iron enough fist malky.

So is junior malkys'. But I'm not so naive as to think he won't develop his own "taste" at some point despite my best efforts to educate him on the classics.

Some of youse guys need to lighten up. Do you really think I'm that much of a bigot, musically or otherwise?
And as for the musical taste of our offspring (now there's a decent band...) Junior Jam has decided that the Mighty Mighty Bosstones are his current favourite. Chip off the old block, but I now he's only a couple of years off liking Justin Bieber or his 2012 equivalent. Poor sod.

Junior News used to like the Bosstones and at ten has avoided Bieber although Hgh School Musical and Hannah Montana were not so easily stamped out.

I don't see why those of us who have awesome taste in music should have to apologise for it. That's like saying the All Whites should apologise for being good at football.

Spot on

Look, all I'm saying is I think the All Whites can do a bit better than Dave Dobbyn for a post match singalong.

As top flight footballers we can't expect them to also have great taste in music so I consider it my patriotic duty to try and give them some advice.

Also, thanks to the efforts of that brilliant investigative journalist Craig Stanaway we now know that Winston Reid likes rap, which is a start.

So when they cut to the AW's dressing room after the victory against Italy I expect to see the boys all gettin' down with the Wu Tang Clan, maybe a few smokes, some Hennessy, just having a good time.

After all, Noo Zea-land ain't nuthin' ta fuk wit'

I don't like Pearl Jam, but listening to Pavarotti's corpse play the Tibetan Anus Flute would be preferable to Dobbyn. TheJam2010-06-18 14:42:51

FFS there are more important things to worry about, like beating Italy, than what our boys musical tastes are.  I don't care if they listen to Billy Ray Cyrus or Cyprus Hill.  Whatever they want to listen to is their choice.

The first album was good, but it went downhill after that

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

What a ridiculous statement.

I believe that the ability of music to affect performance is the last significant unexplored frontier in sports science.

According to Glen Moss's latest blog "It was a quiet bus trip to the ground, most of the lads with head phones in". Who knows what sh*t they're listening to and the psychological impact it could have on their performance?

As you might know I used to be the DJ in the world's greatest ever rap band, Public Enemy, so I know how to get the party started. I also know how to f**k the party up with the wrong choice of tune at the wrong time. Logically, the same cause and effect relationship can be applied to music and sports performance.

In fact, because I think this is such a serious issue I am making the offer to NZF to fly to SA right now and become the All Whites official tour DJ. I believe this might be the kind of cutting-edge, innovative move by NZF that could be the difference between going out after the group stage and going through to the last 16.

I will set up turntables at the back of the bus, in the dressing rooms and in the technical area to ensure that at all times our boys are listening to only the highest quality and most inspirational rap, rock, reggae, soul and funk.

Frank van Hattum - just PM me dude and I'll tell you where to send the tickets (business class please - I need to feel fresh when I get there).

So thi thing I find hard to get my head around is if DD does play for the AWs - which position?  And poor old Mully would feel really superfluous.

Reminds me of that old one about Van Morrison's backing band who hated him so much that before each gig they used to steal his harmonica, all wipe their arses on it, then stick it back in the bag ready for him to play it onstage....
