Tidy player. Good attitude. Phoenix? YES!
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Appears to be finding form/confidence after that stint at Sydney. I rate him

if he gets back to where he was pre SFC (and stays at that level or higher) then he deserves to be somewhere higher than the NZFC.
I'll wait til then before i rate him as a superstar etc

Was very impressed, wish he had hit that volley to win it at the end, but he had already done alot!! Great promise, someone will sign him after the Olympics for sure.
Botafogo - Rio de Janeiro and Wellington Phoenix, my two teams til death do us part.

I chose him for my NZ Dream Team and got flack for it, But as i said then i wil say now - He is work in progress and can cross a ball better then Killen (And score better gaols so far).

I don't want him at the Phoenix (I dislike it how all the Kiwi's in the A-league are at one team), but he's definitely A-league quality.

It's not exactly Killen's job to be a good crosser of the ball...

have to agree about Killen, Brockie has definatly lifted himself from that horror season with sydney

Like many others when it was discussed signing him last season i said no, has fallen in confidence etc, lacks the spark he had at the knights.
But he definately appears to be getting that back, has been scoring regularly, taking players on etc. Finally beginning to fulfill his potential.
Hopefully he will pick up something overseas.

Nothing wrong with Kiwi's in one team I think as long as they are good enough and effective. That's my way of thining.

Eh? Not many other A-League teams are going to pick up NZers cause we dont offer that much different to most Aussies. Obviously theyd rather use their import spots on South Americans etc.
We should have as many kiwis as possible.

The jury's still out for me one good strike don't make him good yet, he showed promise at knights done little since till now
Although to me he seems to have the build to be a target man

He did well against the Olyroos also and seems to be in a run of form of late.
He's certainly not terrible.

It just worries me after the Kingz and Knights folding that all Kiwi's at one club could be disastrous if things went belly-up.
Everyone says they (other clubs)won't waste an import slot on a Kiwi, they'd rather use it on a Brazillian or whatever. Well, if the Kiwi is as good or better than whichever Brazillian then there's no reason to not get the Kiwi. If they can't get a contract elsewhere though then it'd be good to have him here.
Although is it really wise to have 3 youth players all vying for the same position (as in Costa, Draper, and Brockie), and is Brockie really good enough to be a reliable frontman with Smeltz. Personally, I think Kwasnik is more than capable of doing the job. He had a great game in the final.

Yeh have to say not convinced by Brockie, though I'm open to it happening, that he could be a consistent performer week in and out of a league season...
Should we also be trying to sign the guy who got the assist and the backs who did well to keep China out for most of the game? It is a team game. Brockie has scored a great goal, but I'd want to see more from him before jumping to conclusions.
After all Smeltzy had to score two in his match against Wales to get a chance to have a run with us...

I have to say I was dissapointed after he was released by Sydney and ended up playing back in NZ's non professional league. But at the end of the day, he was what 18 when he was at Sydney. He has done everything people talked about after sydney. He has gone back to NZ picked up his game, as someone said earlier...started enjoying football again. Its not just the goal against China, he has been the inform striker in the build up to the olympic games.
I think things are back on track for him and he still has the next 2 games on the world stage to prove himself further..here is hoping for a good couple of games from him...it would be great if he can get himself another goal.
After reading Nelsens article just now...I think he probably does deserve a chance at the phoenix. As long as he can get a fulltime professional contract I am not to bothered what club he goes to. But if no other clubs are giving him the opportunity...then the Ricki and the Phoenix should.
If we build it, they will come...

Unless the nix have someone else lined up for striker why not sign him. He's getting into some good form and has experince at A-League level. Give him a go.

He's been scoring for the Oly Whites - I think the dip in form he had coincided with his time in Sydney which did him no favours, as a young developing player he needed to be playing games - coming back to the NZFC and getting a full season under his belt is the best thing he could have done - hope he picks up a contract out of the Olympics

I thought he might have had another season at Sydney but my judgment may have been clouded by a desire to have at least one NZ'er playing for my team. Was surprised that he went off the radar the next year. It was a pretty unsettled time for Sydney too though.
I voted "Ok I guess".

I always thought he played better out wide than as a striker. His dribbling and pace tended to be better suited to playing out wide, Cristiano Ronaldo proved that you can still score goals from the wings if you get yourself in the right place at the right time. However, if he is considered as a wide player...do we really need another one?? We have an over-abundance at the moment.

Clearly he has his confidence back which is important, he might be an outside shot for this season but another good 12 months and he'll definitely pop up on somebody's radar. Perhaps a gig in one of the state leagues could be a good move.
Does anyone know why he knocked it on the head at Sydney? Did he (probably fairly) envisage getting the Phoenix spot that went to Draper after the U20s where he looked short of a gallop?

Did he also play for someone in Nelson and Wests U19s as a guest?

He's not consistant enough. Wanders in and out of the game. Was lucky
to get games for Hawkes Bay United in the end. Like a lot of these youg
playes, he thinks he's God's gift and just has to turn up. Even at the
Olympics he got himself two stupid yellow cards. He needs to take his
head out of his bum and do some hard yakker

well I guess it is does Ricki rate him, and think he has enough potential to be a possible replacement say for Covs? Does he think that he would work and improve swiftly at the 'Nix, or that he isn't there at the moment?
Draper looked okay when he came on for the Olywhites I thought. I wonder how he compares to Hearfield?
Would it be that Hearfield just has better composure from more game time?

Are you serious? His yellow against Brazil was a poor refereeing decision....
