OK, this is niggly, so bear with me.

As you will know, the ballot for Fifa ticket application (phase 3) closes on 22 Jan. So, people are currently deciding what non AW games they want to attend.
As you also know, we have a bus available for the duration of our tour in SA. The bus will be able to take us to non AW games. However, it cant be everywhere at once and there are some clashes between games, so some decisions will have to be made for the bus to go one place or another (its also not clear yet whether the bus will be available during the course of the Kruger visit or whether required for that).

With all that in mind, with a view to providing an opportunity for input before decisions are made where the bus will go and to help people make decisions about their ticket applications, we need some feedback on preferred games on some key dates, notably the 19th and the 23rd. THen we can make informed decisions about where the bus will go. It will not suit everybody and some people may prefer to make their own arrangements to get to an alternate match. But hopefully its an improvement on just making an arbitrary call.

A possible bus diary (with options included) and based on the assumption that Polokwane (about 4 hours return) is as far as we would want to drive for a non AW game (that leaves the possible venues as Joburg (x2), Pretoria, Rustenburg, Polokwane) looks like this ...

14th - arrival (bus takes us to hotel)
15th - bus takes us to AWs v Slovakia
16th, 17th, 18th - assumption made at this stage that bus not available as with Kruger tour
19th - bus can take us to either Australia v Ghana in Rustenburg or Cameroon v Denmark in Pretoria. We need to make a decision here. So, feedback please
20th - bus takes us to AWs v Italy
21st - bus could take us to Spain v Honduras. Does that sound like a good option? Feedback please
22nd - bus to Sun City
23rd - bus can take us to either Ghana v Germany in jo burg or USA v Algeria in Pretoria
24th - bus takes us to AWs v Paraguay
25th - unscheduled
26th - bus to airport

I will get the ball rolling as far as preferences.

19th - my preference is Australia v Ghana (based on wanting to see Australia and this being only real opportunity)
21st - yes, I would like bus to go to Spain v Honduras.
23rd - my preference is USA v Algeria (based on assumption id have seen Ghana on the 19th)

ALso, bus or no bus I will probably apply for tickets to Argentina v S Korea on 17th in Jo'burg (although mexico v france in polokwane also an option)

I am going to wait to see what decisions are made re the bus before applying for tickets, but may not necessarily go with the bus option.

thanks Marius.

this is my preference,

19th - Cameroon v Denmark (I have seen Australia played and it's probably real easy for us to see Aussie play, even if it just means flying across the tasman to do so; it's not everyday you see European and African team squared off, so I prefer this match then the other, no dis-respect to Ghana and Australia of course)

21st - Spain v Honduras (to see some of the world's best players in a single team -also current
#1 team would be a dream come true), this one definitely keen

23rd - Ghana v Germany (simply cannot wait to see the battle between Essien v Ballack in midfield, hopefully both fit to start at that point in time), more appealing than the other match, also Germany is great to watch as they always know how to win in big matches and again a team full of stars, and will do well in big tournaments like the WC.

if we can go to at least 2 of these 3 games on these dates, would be awesome, 1 would be good not ideal, 3 is best

but then again like I said before I'll go with majority rule, I really don't mind the overall outcome, just happy to be attending other non-AW games

I'll go and now apply for all the matches mentioned on here on FIFA so hopefully good luck with winning a successful application.

no worries

I have just applied, only to find out some match tickets are not available to register

this is my application:

feverish - you can always amend your application and I'll do that once we got everyone's opinion on this thread, so I'm sure it'll be fine :)

Marius, have you applied for tickets for the games you have mentioned? If you need others to do a group booking with you, I am very, very keen.

please include me in any group bookings for tickets.  Not really bothered about which games we apply for, just keen to get to as many games as possible.

Hey Marius, good to get the ball rolling on this one, cheers.

Phase 3 ticket applications can be modified up until the 22nd. Assuming you can take people in even if tehy're not the 'guest' on the tickets.

19th - Aussie v Ghana - I'd like to go along and support Aussie for this one.  That's a strange thing to admit, and I'd rather drink spew than support their rugby or cricket teams, but for football I back 'em.

21st - I won't be applying for tickets for this one, I'm in the hole enough as it is at present, but if there were spares I'd happily fork out the $ and jump on board (anyone applying feel free to apply for some extras)!!

23rd - Ghana v Germany - Yes please. It's at the new 90,000 seat stadium, you can chill in Soweto and it could be a cracker game.  I'm applying for two of these, but if this is the one we go for I'll bump that to 4 if more people are keen.

United - what do you mean that 'some tickets weren't able to register'?

In general - if we book a whole lot once we've agreed on games, we're not likely to have too many tickets.

yeah Germ v Ghana has appeal for being at Soccer City which will be cool - with the bonus being the more seats avail being 90k seater.
Dunno about seeing Ghana twice though - we would have to learn their anthem/chants.

Denmark game would have the best totty.

it's just when I try to select those matches mentioned in the drop down box they are not available, unless I'm not doing it right

Which ones can't you select?  I can see all of the ones mentioned in Marius' post, apart from Ghana v. Germany because I've already selected it.

Actually USA v. Algeria doesn't seem to be availalbe either.

There are some others not available on that list too, but apart from the one they're all there for me.

Its no longer a problem.

19th - I'm not fussed about this day as I'm likely to have something else lined up this day.
21st - Spain/Honduras - definately a must.
23rd - I would prefer to see Ghana/Germany on the basis that i won't have seen Ghana before, plus it is hard to pass up the opportunity to see the Germans.

I think what you have done is double clicked the apply button.  So it has saved you request, but the second click is trying to request a game for which you haven't filled out the detail.  And because you have apply for a game on X date, you can't apply for that same game again. Hence why it isn't showing up.  All your application for games should show up to the right of the screen.  Hope that makes sense.

19th - Australia v. Ghana - given the Nix play in the A-league, I think we should turn up at one match and support the Ockers, and the other Oz games in Nelspruit and Durban don't fit with our dates

21st - Spain v. Honduras

23rd - Ghana v. Germany - I don't mind seeing Ghana twice.

For non-YF- Bus travel, I like: 17th - Argentina v. Sth Korea; 25th - Portugal v Brazil.

23rd - Ghana vs Germany is the one I'm keen to get to - should be a cracking game, and I want to see "Soccer City" in Jo'burg too.

As for the 21st, I'll vote for the bus to go to Spain vs Honduras.

I just can't bring myself to supporting Australia, so will give the 19th a miss.

Question for the group - what are the actual chances of managing to get tickets for these games? (Sorry, never been to a World Cup before, so not sure what the availablility will be like - although I did see an article saying the locals were buying more tickets to see England than to watch their own country!)

If there is a group booking option I am keen to partake. Having reviewed all the feedback I think I would like to do the Ghana v Germany game and the Spain v Honduras game but as has been mention by many...keen with what the majority rule is.
Should I go try and get my own tickets or is someone gonna try a group booking??

OKAY LISTEN UP!

You MUST get YOUR OWN tickets to the non-NZ games.

There is no group booking option. The most you can apply for is a group of four.

We can't do that for you and it is not included in the Tour cost.

For mine:

Ghana/Germany: yes
Spain/Honduras: yes

And Frankie Mac, Potters and I have a spare spot in our group of 4 if you want it. PM me.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Smithy - figure there should be some overlap in ticket buying - some might miss out, and others might not realise how much they want to go on the day. Can't hurt eh.

Other than Smithy, as I would expect that his spare spot has gone, does anyone else have a spare spot for a group of four to save all the hassle of trying to get tickets individually??? Otherwise I will register for the pool for Germany v Ghana and Spain v Honduras
