a couple of mid thirty keepers doesn't scream of great succession planning does it?

Pretty bizarre that the third keeper slot went to a 34yo with 0 caps, rather than one of the youngsters that has come through with the 20s in recent years

I don't know what's happened there. The other 20's keeper got told she wasn't in the Ferns plans

Hi all,

Jamie Scott will be fulfilling Media Manager duties for the Football Ferns in Canada, while I'll be the only NZ media representative in that country throughout the duration of the upcoming FIFA Women's World Cup Finals.

All reports, etc., will appear initially on www.ultimatenzsoccer.com/Scoreboard, then be relocated to a suitably titled page which will appear on http://www.ultimatenzsoccer.com/FootballFernsInAction/road_to_canada_2015.htm

Cheers,

JR

Well played to girls! dominated possession and fought well. But please, how on mother earth does Wilkinson get a start over anyone else, not even looking at the penalty. Need someone who is actually comfortable on the ball and can keep it a foots reach when dribbling Ahhhhhh. Emma kete or Rosie White in for the world cup please. Good Luck girls

Almost a case of Wilkinson impersonating Johnny Wilkinson in stance and then in delivery over the cross bar. You just knew she was going to miss it by her stance. Good game though we gave the ball away too much. But there were also touches of decernt football by the ladies too. Japan had a massive defensive effort.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Wow Foal 30 that's a blast from the past. I remember Steve Rickard bringing out Giant Baba to give King Curtis a hiding at the Wellington Show Buildings way back in the mid 70s. Giant Baba was over 7 feet tall and one very mean brut.

any more games before the Cup?

Ferns have actually only won a few of their games in the last couple of years (v non P.Island oppo) so they need to pull finger and get scoring.

There are a couple of non-cap-earning encounters taking place against fellow finalists. Both games are being played in three thirty-minute spells in Vancouver.

One is scheduled for this weekend, and the other - currently being finalised - is in early June, prior to the squad's departure for Edmonton.

What the f**k is Soccer Football?  Is this a Cro*d Goes Wild thing?

Anyway am excited for the opening game, its almost a sell-out.  I'd love to see us get a result against the Netherlands.  Edmonton sounds like the Tron so apart from having the world's largest shopping mall, shouldn't be too much to distract the ladies!  ;-)

Very much a CGW p**s take. Not a show to be taken too seriously, but at least they are giving the U20 great coverage
