One of the South African girls were suspended for their second game after tv replays after the game showed a bad incident, but wasn't called by the ref in the game....so there is a precedent to make or overturn decisions after the game

In my view, as poor a decision as this is, there is no chance this will be overturned. The Ref made a shark house call but she has deemed it a DOGSO. No mistake involved other than her judgement. Sometimes referees do just get it wrong

And as bad a decision as it is, the FIFA judiciary will become worse than the NRL / Super Rugby process if this is overturned. As bad as it is and as much as it sucks, I for one hope it isn't overturned for the integrity of the system.  If this type of poor decision is allowed, prepare for every decision to be challenged, Lawyers involved endless appeals and disciplinary tribunals

A violent incident that was missed altogether by match officials but seen on Telly is a different matter altogether ie Siggy on Adrian Leijer a few years ago.

Like I said, this type of incident falls into the area of wrong application of the law, which is challengeable (I'm not sure thta's an actual word btw).

Will be interesting as there may be some precedence based on A leagues ruling and for selfish NZ reasons hope you are right but by the same token, I still think that  is a Pandora's box best kept shut.

"able to be challenged" is probably the better lol.

So New Zealand Football announced they would try their best to appeal the red card, anyone have any idea how long it will take to hear about the result of the appeal (if we have the ability to make one)

State of the third-placed teams in the groups:

Brazil's 5-1 thrashing of Sweden on the weekend was good for us.

It all depends on the Ferns keeping the score down against France (assuming we'll probably lose).

Current standings:

Group E       GF  GA   Pts

2. China         2     3      3

3. Sweden     2      5     3

4. S A            0      3      0

China v Sweden next game (A heavy China win best for us but a heavy Sweden win also good for us. A draw no good for us.)

Group F        GF   GA  Pts

3. Aussie      2       4      1

4. Zimb.        2       9     0

Australia v Zimbabwe next game. This will boost the Aussie goal difference and should send them through.

Our Group:  GF   GA   Pts

2. France      4       1    3

3. NZ            1       2     3

4. Colomb.    0       5     0

There's nothing in the Rio Olympic Tournament regulations that I can find that says that the FIFA Disciplinary Code is not applicable to the tournament - which means we can appeal on the wrong application of the law basis (if we're correct in the assumption that the red card was for DOGSO).

Great news, so will anyone give NZF a "nice one" for appealing or will it be a case of only talking about them when we want to have a moan.

Well done for appealing, NZF!

So I'm rooting for a Zimbabwe v Australia draw.

I dont know whats more shocking, this comment saying NZF did something good, or the fact that I agree with it.

But a great decision for the squad, good shark.

I was hoping the Columbian would have received a suspension for a blatant "dive" she went down quicker than a $2 hooker.

If anyone is watching this on a decent stream then please post it - this game will be really interesting.

So a draw would get us through as a third placed team.

Apparently - any other relevant results this morning?

With a draw we're not dependent on other results, with a loss we are.

"Sly Sport Live" - pretty sure that's not live because stuff's updates have us half way through the first half and that's and empty "live" pitch.

Dammit sky.

Lucky enough to have Sky at work. I sneak into the breakout room every few mins or so.

It's live on one of the pop-up channels. Just over 30 mins in. It's been an appalling game of football from what I've seen so far.

Hate to be critical of Betsy Hassett as she has been such a good player but this tournament I have lost count of the number of times she has given the ball away. We are just a bit behind the French in terms of ball control.

That's what I was using but that shows the game only a few minutes in (half hour delay).
