OK.
Talked to the Boss.
We can open up and have it on the big screen, and serve coffees at halftime. Breakfast isnt an option at short notice. Also we can ahve the Scotlad versus Netherlands game from EPN live on another tv at the same time for thos interested.

Will need firm interest though to get more than myself in to open up at that time.

My partner and I intend to come and watch the game.

VERY good squad! Thought Smeltz would be the one up the top though.
And does McGlinchey usually prefer the right?Could see this being very dangerous and in the actual playoff this team has real potential going forward

Pretty sure Fallon is regarded as the natural target man and just slots in where Killen or Wood would have played.

I think McGlinchey actually prefers to play centrally, and out right could be a bit of an experiment. Both he and Sigmund are not in their preferred slots. It looks like Herbert's preference has been to get his best 11 footballers on the field even if it takes a bit of juggling.

he'll be locking in that backline though i assume. I would have thought he'd be locking in his formation too (a bit surprised at 442) in which that case the team would be that with Killen for Fallon?

I kinda think herbert may be opting for the 442 (or 4411), as he did at the confed cup, based on personnel rather than what he thinks is the ideal formation. THhe fact is he has 3 targetmen with good credentials in Killen, Fallon and Wood, plus he has Smeltzy (who is on fire and has been the AWs best goal scorer in last couple of years). On the other hand we are thin when it comes to central midfielders of quality. Really, Smeltz is an out and out striker, but to accomodate one of our targetmen he will be expected to play a deeper role, especially away from home.

Predictably the match was totally ignored by the news tonight. Nelsen's first game back, Fallon's debut, McGlinchey's debut, Smeltz on fire at the moment, world cup dress rehearsal. Those TV sports desks really do not give a sh!t.

Anyone know if there is any online coverage of this game for those of us that have shunned Sky sport because of their shoddy A-League coverage?

are you saying that should have led the sports news?

yes, thats what i mean. he is trying to get his best 11 players on the park even if some of them are not in their favoured position (ie sigmund and mcglinchey). Having said that i still agree with what he's done.

it will possibly be on iraqgoals.com (sinz will know) but because it is a friendly and there are so many qualifiers on tomorrow morning in europe it might get squeezed

Thanks, I'll give it a go but I'm not confident it will be there because of the reasons you have given...

I am in the UK and will be hoping iraqgoals gives some sort of coverage, even if it is a bit flakey.

Failing that though,

Could you guys back in NZ watching it on sky be nice enough to have yellowfever logged on in front of you and give as many updates as possible.
final starting lineups at kick off, subs, score updates, and all the positive and negative stuff in between.

thanks in advance.

Yup I would really appreciate it if someone could update! Hopefully we can find a feed. I can read some Arabic so I'm currently searching for any mention from Arabic sources, maybe easier to find closer to kick off. Hopefully trusty Iraqgoals will play it anyway :)

iraq goals is a secondary source. they get all thier feeds from www.justin.tv

I suggest you try there first and click on the sports link.

Nah I cant find anything either.

I think Bahrain game starts later, there should be something on iraqgoals for that.

shame someone in nz couldn't point their web cam at the TV on sky sports on MSN or something, then let us all add them as a friend :)

Nice one! That one works, even if quality is average. Cheers!

Man, soft freekick, straight up the middle, bounces in front, Paston falls rather than dives, and has a flap.  Super start.

WPF

That goal epitomises why Moss> Paston. Moss may not be able to organise defenses like you claim but he knows what a ball looks like and how to catch/save it.

Pathetic effort from our keeper

Grumpy old bastard alert
