Onehunga WIN 5-3 on pens. Off to the finals!!!
Presumably in Manchester.
Wow congrats...
Impressive result... what is the age group for this comp, U15?s
Either way this Max Mata boy must be pretty impressive for his age (12 or 13) having top scored with Liam Jordan who by all accounts is a very decent young player.
Have seen some of the finals (in Manchester) from the teams from all over the world and it is very impressive. Just to be there will be great for this NZ team.
Good on them.
Yeah a fantastic effort to get there,, I'm not big on wynrs but there Nike cup record is top notch
Wow this is great. I know very little about this cup - what is WYNERS impressive record?
WYNRS academy represent Onehunga Sports club (the tournament is for 15th grade club teams from around the world; used to be known as the Nike Cup); Onehunga (Wynrs) have made the world finals one previous occasion.
A new uniform me hopes... it looks terrible.
Onehunga WIN 5-3 on pens. Off to the finals!!!
Presumably in Manchester.
Last year the finals were in Shanghai, China.

Just checked Onehunga website : finals are back in Manchester. No date given.
Be a bit of a letdown if they are on in Aussie to coincide with off season tour (as they were for China last year).
It was in China last year because of the clash with the Olympics in the UK

I understand the Mata bros (Ben 14, Max 12) from the Onehunga Sports team are on Code on Maori TV tonight.

Absolutely this ^ Seb.
Link for watching online should be up soon - I will post when it becomes available.
My son played against Max a few weeks ago so I got a good look at his game - he's quality. Defo right up there for his age. Hope he kicks on as we need to see more Maori and Pacific players in the game to help grow it in the future.

According to their facebook page they went down 1-0 to Omiya Ardija (Japan) in the first game, goal was scored in the last 2 minutes of the game. Then they went down 6-0 to Borussia Dortmund in the 2nd game
...
Oh dear.
yeah, dortmund are shit
Arsenal beat Dortmund 3-1 and Onehunga still to play arsenal
Despite a 4-0 loss to Internacional, the team achieved a 1-1 draw against Arsenal later in the day...that's a massive result, especially given that Wynrs facebook page saying Arsenal are current England U15 Champions.
Goal was scored by Max Mata - awesome work from a quality young player.
Now who would have thought that!
Great result against the Gunners.
