Yes.
But is this game likely to be played in Wellington? Not if it is against South Korea or China. If not this was the chance for football fans in Wellington to see the All Whites play.

Yeah, Robb, that's the long term plan.  Infect them all with the fever and then it's not me having time off, but taking the family out and being a good dad!  Got to employ the long term strategy if I'm to convince she-who-must-be-obeyed of this though.

After every game my wife always says "thanks for giving me a good time".
What better place to take a woman on a date than to take her to a footy game.

Yeah it'd probably be in Albany.... in which case I wanna see Bloc 5 covered with White Noise tops after we bus/fly up there!

I didn't go.  As well as prioritising the Nix matches (and trying to stand onside at home) frankly NZ vs Vanuatu is equivalent in interest to the Phoenix playing New Plymouth, and given family commitments I'm not going to go to it.  NZ vs Australia or a 5th placed Asian side or a European outfit would be different.  Class opposition make all the difference.

I'm unapologetic about it.

Presumably you won't be going to the galaxy match either as that is not a "Priority" Phoenix A League game!

You either support football or don't!

All the "Egg Kickers" had a great laugh at our expence.

If only life were quite so black and white.  You can support football without attending every single game.

Certainly am going to the Galaxy match.  It has the Phoenix and a decent opposition, and will be a spectacle I'm determined to be part of.  Donovan and Beckham are well known decent footballers - can anyone mention a Vanuatuan player who has some name recognition?

Just got an e-mail from Graham Seatter acknolwedging that there were mitigating circumstances affecting the crowd size, and that while it was a disappointing turnout, it has not ruled out Wellington's chances of hosting further matches

Am I the only person who finds Auckland football fans trying to have a go at Wellington about low attendances somewhat ironic and extremely amusing.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

The next games should be in Christchurch where the crowds are always good for a big fixture.loyalgunner2007-12-08 20:55:38

The proverbial is going to hit the fan and there is going to be one almight stoush between Akl and Wgtn as to the venue of NZ's home fixture in any World Cup play off with 5th Asian side (if we quality that is, dont want to curse us through presumption).

Obviously it should be here. we will load the ring of fire for that match - being a football city and all.

Just so long as that fixture isn't rugby.

The answer is simple: both Auckland and Wellington should host a half each, with tickets for both halves being redeemable at both venues.

NZF blew it, Seatter admitted it in his email to me himself.

However my next personal priorities for games are Albany and Christchurch respectively as both teams got robbed - Albany unfairly robbed of NZ vs Fiji as it was Winnie's cockup, and Christchurch fairly as they should not have been given the NZ @ Vanuatu match in the first place.

And the 5th ranked Asian side is AUSTRALIA as per the Asian seedings go for their World Cup group stage.

If we have to play Australia for FIFA 2010, I will crack up.

And then celebrate, coz it'll be easier to fly away to support the AW's in their cup campaign.

I'd fly to Riyadh if I could, but Sydney or Melbourne is much easier, and cheaper.

Crowds for Wellington are great, for the Phoenix that is. I think Wellington should be the All Whites home ground due to the success of support for the Phoenix. Big crowds will come for the All Whites if big Internationals are held. I do think after the 2007/08 Phoenix season is finished, around Feburary I think, New Zealand Football should set the All Whites to play games at the Westpac Stadium against worthy opposition. This will keep football fever in Wellington all year round and will mean no breaks from high standard football here in the Capital.

And the All Whites represent New Zealand, not just Wellington.
