Got sent off playing for Grammar today, not the best performance, still would love to see him pull it off for the U20s

Having now seen the Chairman's programme notes, I can tell you they say "Both Wellington Phoenix and Onehunga Sports players have chosen to stay within their clubs along with our very own Wests players of which five were in contention for the qualifying tournament in Tahiti," before the passage already quoted.
Note, however, afaik, no Onehunga Sports players have chosen to stay with their club.
The notes also claim "the bulk" of players invited have made the same decision, when I have it as eight - the five from Wests, the two from the Phoenix, and Oli Duncan - out of an initial group of 28. Ben Deeley, as discussed here, turned down a camp invite, but not because of club commitments (he doesn't have one).

Leon van den Hoven is door bondscoach Buckingham opgenomen voor het nationaal elftal O-19 van Nieuw-Zeeland voor het OFC (Oceania Football Confederation) kampioenschap. Dit kampioenschap begint op zondag 5 augustus in Tahiti.
Van den Hoven sloot in april op amateurbasis aan bij de Geelblauwen. Hij maakt onderdeel uit van het tweede elftal van de club, die onder leiding staat van Sander Duits.
Het is niet de eerste keer dat Leon is geselecteerd voor het nationale elftal. De 18-jarige middenvelder blonk uit tijdens het WK O-17 vorig jaar. Dit jaar mag hij zich dus opmaken om zich te kwalificeren voor het WK O-20, welk volgend jaar wordt gehouden in Polen. De beste twee landen van het OFC O-19 toernooi plaatsen zich namelijk voor dat WK.

It would seem so, however looking at the oceania site all the teams seem far better prepared and have played games against good opposition, some playing their senior sides, others A league sides etc. Our team had one inter squad game at the end of a 4 day camp.
Out of those three games, I'd assum Tahiti is our toughest opposition.
2 years ago at U17 (so each of these teams would have about half of that 2016 squad for this tournament) we comfortably?! beat PNG 2-1 with a 90+3 winner.
Underestimate the opposition at your peril.

We seem too slow on the ball and keen to lump it... Bell keeps telling players to settle but no one seems to be listening. I like the look of Spain.

Just as the non-Wellingtonians were for the April camp. Paying for such things has long been the norm. A difference this year, at least v the last U-17s cycle, is that costs weren't equalised across the group, but still.
I thought we dominated without looking like we were ever fully in control. Should have had a couple more.
