This is a really good opportunity to see if having the boys play together in the NZFC has helped them make any gains on other nations... they didn't do too well at u17level.

Playing at 7pm tonight. I know one of the coaching staff and he was saying how N.Z have 5 coaching staff over there and China have 16, Brazil 12 and Croatia 10. Pretty crazy

@NZ_Football: #JuniorAllWhites v China U-20 starting XI: Sail, Brown, Edge, Tuiloma, Taye, Ridenton, Bowkett, Stevens, de Jong, Rufer, Trbuhovich

Please say they are at least playing Bill at DM in the 20s

UNDERDOG: One that is expected to lose a contest or struggle

NZF have a twitter feed going (well sort of; occasional score updates interspersed with match stats history; very odd).

Kotahitanga. We are one.

Media man will be doing from his home in Auckland. Hence just scoring updates.

Judd baker, wins one ball in the air and subbed off after less than a minute on the pitch

No names on shirts so a no go.

Should be atleast 5 mins of added time. Very niggly game.

We have won a few free kicks in shooting range and looked alright on possession. Holding our own with neither side dominating.

Lots of changes by both teams.

Messenger with the Yellow. Should never have taken Baker he is so soft and is injured all the time

Only saw the last 30 mins but this is my take.

Defensively we look ok and we have a pretty strong LB. Didn't notice our DM, but we didn't get cut up through the middle so must have been holding position well and forcing them to look wide.

They tended to attack our RB... not sure but think this might be the boy at Braga, big African guy.

We look to have a little bit of pace about us but struggled like they did to connect too many passes. The weather looked shite so I don't think that would of helped either team.

Normally when I watch us play at China / Japan style team I feel like we just chase shadows, so I am glad that this was not the case today.

Shame to lose to china but 1 match together v a side who only play in same country and have a gazillion warm up games together isnt bad

Only saw the last 15 minutes on the live stream but some horrendous Chinese tackles resulting in Tuiloma exiting the field followed soon after by the recent sub Baker .The blonde Kiwi #19 was only retaliating to the Chinese nonsense.

They showed highlights after the game on the stream and my impression was NZ created more chances overall. Seemed to have the ball in the net from a Tuiloma diving header from a free kick but it was ruled out.

Not sure if China were fielding the same side as they did in last week's Toulon tournament in France.

They drew with France and Chile and lost to Portugal and Mexico (1-0)

China's Toulon squad had seven players playing in Europe  - one at Atletico Madrid, five in Portugal & one in Belgium.

NZ played three games in Auckland before leaving (two v Fiji and one v PNG)
Plus China have just come from the major Toulon tournamnet in France - not sure if they're fielding the same squad in this tournament.

Seriously? It's U20 friendlies  - why would Sky put money into this? Games like this have never been shown here, and I think it's a bit tough to have a go at Sky for not showing these games. And the fact that people are struggling to find streaming indicates that coverage is not exactly widespread.

As much as I like to have a dig at sky, I agree on that front.

It is disappointing that they seem to have stopped showing the football ferns, despite promising to screen more NZ international football after losing the EPL rights.

Will be interesting to see if they screen the games against Brazil.

Allegedly

The game was on Chinese state television "China Central Television" CCTV: China Central Television commonly abbreviated as CCTV, is the predominant statetelevision broadcaster in mainland China. CCTV has a network of 45 channels broadcasting different programmes and is accessible to more than one billion viewers.

The game was live on CCTV - 5+ one of the two biggest sports channels in China and free-to-air in HD.
