Steven Holloway: How the Oly Whites are navigating a 'crazy' tournament

"If this sounds overly critical of PNG bear in mind that next year they will be hosting the Women's Under 20 World Cup where Fifa's requirements will surely require a drastic overhaul."

Wow that will be interesting.

Majorly. If Hudson can upset them, wait til Fifa gets started.

They might win as well...would we have put 40 plus goals past someone?

I think if you collected 11 random forumers, they would've beaten Micronesia by 30+

How good would it be to run a croudfunding campaign to get a yellow fever team over to micronesia to play a game. Pitch it as 'Micronesia are really terrible but so are we, so we thought we'd send a team over to give them some practice and maybe actually a win'. Given that their results have been so bad that they've made the international media maybe if you did a good job putting together the campaign it would get picked up in the media and get overseas support. Someone make it happen!

Yeah, except a Fever XI would comfortably beat them. And by comfortably i mean put at least 10 goals past them.

Three for me, and two for them.

Fever second XI. I for one am confident that I would lose.

I know we are laughing about going to Micronesia, but wouldn't it be a great idea to do something like that. Get a group from here to go and play and maybe put on some training sessions...be a great experience for them and Wellington Fever.  Spreading the football gospel so to speak

I reckon it would be better to try and get Micronesia over here for a game against Fever, rather than asking people to send us on an island holiday. Should we start a Kickstarter?

I reckon the opposite, if we went to Micronesia you could reach alot more people rather than 20 or so that would come here

won't be easy though as Federated States of Micronesia are 4 main island groups spread over 1 million square miles of the pacific ocean

if there was something going on I'd be keen

maybe we should look at getting a contact first and sending some gear \ strips etc over?

Me too. Best idea i've seen on this forum. I got 'Best Player' when I was 6 years old for the Upper Hutt Wildcats, so I have pedigree.

pedigree has no place in a Fever football team.

I read this book recently about football in on of the Mirconesian Islands - good read

 Up Phonpei

Awesome, going to buy it on Kindle now as I've always wanted to visit Micronesia and have a thing for small island teams.

If you like this kind of stuff, check out "Stamping Grounds" on Liechtenstein's WC Qualification Campaign (in 02 I think) or watch Last Goal Wins, a documentary about the American Samoa national team after their humiliating loss to Australia 31-0...

Sounds like the Fever Forum was on the money when they said they should offer to go over to Micronesia and help out.

Maybe, although based on the fiasco from the other day it is just as likely they will beam coverage straight into outer space!

Bugger. So no watchable stream anywhere for us in Aussie then?

Does anyone know why David Browne, 19, Striker for Auckland City and PNG U17 Rep, is not playing for the PNG U23 side?

Seems like he would be a handy foil for Tommy Semmy.

Didn't Hudson say that he wants all teams, all age groups, to play the same way? What's with the 3-5-2 formation again?
