Hicks has been in good form. Some professional players on the bench. Wee Mac can play 10. Kosta, Marco, Patterson and Rogerson could be providing WOod and Fallon service. What the actual fudge.

The wind must be strong based on that last goal kick

and while all this is happening there is heaps of rugby on the sports news and golf and American basket ball even though football is a huge participation sport in nz where is the news media in all this?

I wonder if Hudson is trying to get himself out of his contract? And then he can show the video of the game to future employers (in the middle of his powerpoint presentation) and say: See, it's not my fault. Just look at the quality of the players I had available to me.

Second half with the wind better be a LOT better

We have fallen into that common trap of our players waiting to see what the ball carrier will do rather than moving to give the ball carrier an option.

watching fallon and prelevic tryna make plays is like watching dumb and dumber playing football

Would rather the general public were looking at pre olympic rowing prep than this type of football.

Can't believe just how much ball New Caledonia is getting. Jeez.

head down the TAB and see if you can get a multi on.

Anytime we're in the box the whistle has blown

What could they report though?

"And in sports news, there's a game currently being played between the All Whites and New Caledonia. It is not of a high quality and half an hour in it's nil all."

There's not much story until there's a result, and they wouldn't have any footage.

Should be on the late bulletin, but probably won't be.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

To be fair there's not much worth reporting here. 0-0 against New Caledonia in an empty stadium doesn't make a great headline story.

If we were 2 goals up coming in to half time there would have been a mention, they have done that in the past but in all hoesty is there anything you have seen in this game so far that deserves mentioning in the news?

also getting whistled off the game as well.

Nearly completed 5 passes in a row then but didnt quite get there....

The fact Fallon's having to drop deep to try and make plays indicates how shark the midfield is.

one way on the cards as well. Penalty coming for sure.

Good news from FDJ.  Prelavic is suspended for the final if we make it.

I didn't think we could get any worse but this is by far our worst half of the tournament. What a horrid team selection this is.

No defending Hudson on this one. It's actually almost disrespectful to NCL thinking we can just come here with 2 lumps up forward and hope for the best.

I have a very uncomfortable feeling about this match.  Its not easing.  This has been sub-optimal.  Think I'm gonna skip the 2nd half, its stressing me out too much

Mar (GK). Surprised no one else given a run really but has done everything needed.

Boxall (RB). Seems to be where he plays now rather than centrally. For me Fenton has had a poor tournie- good ticket but impotent on attack. Boxall offers more both going forwards at at set pieces. Will make up for lack of height elsewhere.

Themi. (CB). Solid and reads game well. Will not be an option against the SA teams as lacks pace (like Durante). But against OFC opposition a perfect CB for knockout games.

Adams (CB). Done all asked of him. Positionally sound.

Ridenton (LB). Personally was very suprised Doyle didn't start v the Solomans and dissapointed that Colvey has underwhelmed. Ridenton is not a natural but got up and down very well. He'll pick Colvey though...

Hudson- Wihongi (DM). Has real talent. Probably has the best 20-40 metre pass in the team. Crisp and accurate. Did well playing out of position too. He'll play Bill but Hudson is showing the benefit of playing regular minutes for a winning team ( and the confidence that brings) that is well coached.

Wee Mac (CM). Not his natural position but has a good engine and as long as doesn't get dragged out of position is a good option.

Kosta (RM). Looking fit and sharp.

Patterson (AM). Great energy and wants the ball. Can support Wood and feed off flick ons but also link with K and Marco.

Rojas (LM). Only picked because I know he can do better and just really want to see it.

Wood (or Fallon if unfit). Don't need both.

This team was posted a couple of days ago in another thread.  Does anyone not think this is a better team than the one Hudson has put out on the park?

I just don't understand. It's windy, which is affecting long balls and reducing their effectiveness to basically zilch. We've got Smeltz, who hasn't play all tournament, in no mans land doing f*ck all. We've got Fallon, who is getting pulled up by the ref every time he goes near a player. And we've got Prelevic, who can't even control the ball.

This would all be excusable IF WE DIDN'T HAVE ANY OTHER F*CKING OPTIONS. Why is Kosta not playing? Quite obviously our biggest and most effective thread going forward. I don't understand. And if you're just going to play players out of position randomly because, well, why, not - why not start a guy like Patterson who has done quite well (imo) every time he's had a chance this tournament?
