Lets be fair- this team has looked much more like a Hudson team: shape , but a bit toothless

What is preferable - a team that just gets the job done (i.e. hoofball) or trying to play on the deck like this and being completely ineffective?

in a tournament like this? Anything that gets the job done

wonder if horsehead is watching. probably the chap to ask. If tonight is anything to go by Kosta, Marco and Brockie are not an attack which will defeat a latin American team. Kosta the most impressive, but needs something to aim at in the centre.

If we can't get past the Islands while trying to play some small amount of football, I think i'd rather us not go through. I'm fine with playing whatever we need to do at World Cup/Confed Cup level when overmatched, but surely we  can try and advance our game here.

Considering how Hamish Watson's return has been and that he's in a position we are looking for would he be worth a shout for the 'Nix?

Harsh cards on Brockie and Boxall IMO.

also boxall's long throw is rubbish, wouldn't even call it a long throw

rojas who? his game has deteriorated something chronic he is shockingly bad

As we all feared this pitch is starting to resemble Passchendaele in 1917.  More rain before the semis and it will get worse

It's hard to play a precision passing game on a cow paddock. I favour a more direct game with the big bodies of Fallon & Wood (if fit).

It just works at this level .

It's a sign of a good coach to adapt tactics to win, so be interesting to see how Hudson has AWs playing their semi.

Poor from the All Whites - They should really be dominating all of these teams,  most of our players are full time pros I think Krishna is about the only full time pro from the other nations.

Yeah I hate that cynical shark, not matter the reason. Not great for anyone trying to watch the game.

not too impressed how we parked the bus along with the Solomons. We'd won the group anyway and its not like we dont need the practice on attack. But i guess a win is a win in those conditions.

The youngsters were the pick of the bunch - except Dyer, who was just that. Te Atawhai, Luke Adams, Rogerson with another impressive cameo, Ridenton. Others like Rojas, Brockie, Kosta to a lesser extent, we're very poor.

Nix, Leyton Orient and Alloa Athletic supporting schmuck.

Haven't been counting but they're adding up. Some dumb fouls but also a tendency for diving among a lot of these teams. Thought one or two fouls by the Solomons warranted a yellow given what we were carded for - but I thought the refs were pretty good all round.

How many yellows can you get before missing a game in this comp?

Solomons did well with their off-side line in defence - caught us out heaps!

Brockie didn't have anything much to work with to be fair. Delivery into the box was pretty ropey overall, although build-ups were pretty good.I think the whole team will improve with more game-time together.  .

thought Kosta was quite good. Made some space, but we didn't seem to have enough bodies in the box on counters and breaks, and Brockie seemed a bit static, though he did put one dangerous ball in from out wide himself.

Reckon Wood would have done well there. Wouldn't mind seeing how Watson would go too. You'd hope Rory would cause a bit more trouble than we saw out there. We weren't a lot of threat, even though we sent in a lot of corners and attacked a fair bit. Marco didn't shine like we have seen from him in the past. The youngsters probably have played together a bit more and in the Hudson system to be fair. Plus they've played in the OFC club comp too.

I don't get all the negativity, its not like we're world champions or anything close to it. If it were the Phoenix playing the result could possibly be similar and i've seen some real shark performances from them too. We are winning, its a bit hot and cold but give the team some time to gel and I'm sure we'll get to a good level by the end of it. We're missing that extra dagger in the middle/up front. Rojas looks a shadow of the player that won the Johnny Warren. Dyer looked pretty handy he needs to atleast get into ASB prem side. TAHW was rock solid and carried his form from ACFC. Kosta was dangerous. Overall we had plenty of chances against a team that bus parked all game and countered.
