Everyone seems to be asking about Luke Rowe. Why?

Because he's at an EPL club so is thus the future of NZ football and football in general

Anyone got highlights anywhere?

I don't know if Rowe played today, because I certainly didn't see him. He played against the Solomons and was solid if unspectacular. He certainly wasn't standing out like Marco, Jimmy Musa or Chettleburgh.

I remember someone on here once saying that Andy Bevin is slow. I can't find what thread it was in but

For me Bevin has been one of the finds of the last 12 months in NZ Football (we all knew Marco was the berries).

I agree. I've seen him play a fair bit over the last year and he's stood out in every game. Never has trouble finding the back of the net. He'll do well in the States

The pitch was a bog, worse than an upper hutt field. No idea how it is going to hold up for the last games with heavy rain forecast. Lots of long ball from NZ not too many goals coming from open play. Difficult to criticise 10-0 played in really substandard conditions though.

Yeah, there's not much slick passing through the midfield you can do in a bog.

If we beat Fiji, we should win the whole tournament.

Awesome run by Rojas, set that goal up with a lovely cross.

Well placed through ball, thought the Fijians should of been able to block that.

Penalty!

EDIT: Good work on the rebound, although the fijians were nowhere near the ball.patrick4782011-04-27 15:42:13

gonna put my neck out and say this is in the bag for us, Fiji just got nothing going forward..

They are just hoofing the ball upfield and hoping their strikers can run onto it. In contrast, we are looking very good going forward, passing the ball well.

Definitely, Fiji are just playing some unimaginative football, not much of a spectacle I thought it might be. But I am glad we're looking good, especially that first goal, what a beaut!

For those not following: HT NZ 3 - 0 Fiji. Goals: Zane Sole (scorching free kick); Ethan Galbraith (played on by Marco having beaten two defenders and run box-to-box); Dakota Lucas (penalty saved but tapped in from rebound).

I didn't see the other semifinal, do the Solomon Islands look better than Fiji? I'm hoping the final will be much more entertaining to watch than this.

Zane Sole worries me. He keeps taking too long on the ball.

Marco Rojas worries me. He was referred to by the commentators as a Victory player.

Poor effort from that wide freekick.

Galbraith is quite a lumbering striker isn't he? heavy touch, slow.
