Screamer for Cacace.

Also is that how you pronounce his name?

I've been saying ka ka chay but they said ka sa chay every time.
i wouldn't put much thought into what these commentators have to say

We’ve been wasteful going forward and average at the back. Got to step up a bit. We will need more goals to win.

Lewis starting to get quite frustrating with his unforced errors. Did it a few times in the match against the Korean's too.

Two attacks two good chances to break two very average simple passes into touch.

This ref is going to be considerate to them too based on the evidence so far so we need to be more clinical. Don’t leave us on tenterhooks defending.

This is a pretty even game. Actually to be honest I think we are the better team. Hope i dont jinx it.  Joe Bell off the ball is keeping our shape solid and killing off central passing lanes.

Stamenic on for Lewis ASAP please. Don’t know what it is but he’s been half the player here than he was at the Nix

Stanenic wasn’t that impressive against Korea. Lewis may come good and has played some good passes.

I know the conditions are difficult but we’ve been sloppy across the pitch. And again. Lots of great counter opportunities. We can’t expect our defense to win this one. We have to convert our chances.
Poor game management  before the goal. Lackadaisical.
Gotta pick up here to win.

Makes a great save and then gets beaten at near post by a simple back post header.

Defensively, I think we have been sound, minus a couple individual lapses that have cost us.

Cacace gave up the goose on the ball, Ingham didn't jump and Woud was poorly positioned. Anyone of those three do their job right we would be going in 1 - 0 up.

What's more annoying is the transition play on attack, the amount of good ball wasted has been very frustrating. I wouldn't mind seeing a second striker on. Wood is winning everything in the air and we need someone to run of him better.

I hate the way that we have gone away from the 4-3-3 and the extra man in the middle that got us here, and that we are back at a major comp reverting to putting an extra man back.

Can someone explain to me the thought process of letting Des go and bringing Hay in... I get he's the all whites head coach but the way he sets the team up doesn't fill me with confidence. Very negative, sitting deep leaving Wood by himself upfront. Remember people this was essentially the exact team that was playing some beautiful football at the under 20's word cup. Big sigh, hopefully, they lift in the second.

He's not really up to International standard methinks.
Bell is also losing a lot of duels.
We could do with Singh, Ryan and Stensness in the middle.

Commentators....
Stop with the cliches. Chris Wood is best with the ball at his feet in the box, he is great in tight spaces. This whole target man thing isnt actually what his strength is. the guy is technically pretty good and has lovely close control.

Umm.... NZ football politics...?
I agree.  The U20s played on the front foot, with confidence.  I think though they are doing alright and will grow into the tournament if we last.

Hay has not done a bad job... yet.

We won our first ever game at the Olympics three nights ago and are in with a good shout tonight.

I think we look well organised, especially given we are missing Boxall and Reid in our backline.

some great indv performances - bell, cacace, back 3. But seriously if we had a half decent right wing back out there we'd be killing them. Dane Inghams touch is horrific. Sure he's athletic but if Elliot was playing like we was for the nix we'd have two very potent outlets either side.

We lost our shape and concentration in that last 10. The low block is working - just need to counter quickly but we dont have any pace in the front 3 so id swap out McCowatt for Champness and add some pace.

Still doesn't answer my question though does it? Apart from us and Aus are there any other footballing nations that share a u20's and senior coach?

I don't particularly know the various qualities of the coaches, but our performances so far have been disappointing in comparison to how we played that tournament.

I dont like Hay at all, would much rather have seen Buckingham in charge and think we would be playing better with him there but I dont think he is doing as badly as I was expecting. To be honest I think he has set the team up pretty well here. We are forcing Honduras wide as often as possible, they arent getting too many chances through the middle and we are causing stress on the counter.

THANK YOU!!  Get so sick of the 'Wood is a big lad, just lump it long to him back to goal' sort of analysis.  He is best with ball at feet close quarters and goal poaching.

we're not really playing a low block. the plan seems to be for the straight line of 5 to be as high as possible.
the problem is that a narrow straight line of five, with the wide forwards being asked to defend as defensive wide men, leaves us picking ip scraps on transition (which we have done wuite well with, all things considered)
