I wouldn't sell it but it's the world we live in now. I caught a signed crusaders rugby ball at a game a couple of years ago but smashed some 8year old in the process so I gave it to him only for his olds to sell it on trade me the next week!

That was to cover medical expenses!

No one appears to be bidding. Good news.

Yeah so he is beginning to realise that perhaps people aren't willing to pay him thousands (let alone $200) so he has come to me and told me that he is willing to offer it to me for $600.
Can you believe this guy?

Tell him he had his chance for that price and now your offer is 200

I've gone with $100. See how it goes, breaking him down now with a bit of guilt tripping.

Put it on ebay. There's more money there, you will make a massive profit.

JOKING. Good stuff Dwyer. Football is the winner.

Dwyer, I really hope you get it.

I'll let you in on a secret. I was considering putting in a secret bid to secure this depending on how high the bidding was going to go to.

No, it wasn't to go behind your back and beat you to it, and I would have still felt sick giving the money to the seller.

I was thinking that IF it was going to be sold on TM then I might as well try and help secure it for all NZers. I phoned the Sports Hall of Fame (here in Dunedin) and asked them if it would be something they would be interested in putting on display there. However I learned that the Hall of Fame is for individuals rather than for teams/NZ sporting achievements. And I also learned that inductees have to be retired from their sport for about 5 years before they can be considered.

Dwyer, I really hope that you secure this armband as you are obviously very deserving (even if you have to pay for it).

I have one suggestion for you to consider. IF Ryan Nelsen is ever inducted into the NZ Sports Hall of Fame (who knows, it might happen one day!), then do consider donating it to the Hall of Fame for them to display for generations of fans. Ryan might even autograph it

Totally up to you of course. I just thought I'd mention it as one of many things you could do with it in the future.

I myself would have loved to bid on this. I would have paid up to $1000.
But if I did bid for it, would you think that I am a w**ker?
I collect lots of A-league, NZ and other football memorabilia, not to sit on to add value (What value can a Newcastle jets shirt gather?) I would have loved this!

The way I see it. Yes, he could very well have given it to you. But there are probably hundreds maybe a thousand people who would have loved it and cherished it for ever.

Im not attacking you, but exactly makes it yours? Mates rates?

I think he is fine in posting it not being a fan. However, very asshole-ish not giving it to you, being as you were next to him, you're his mate, and you REALLY wanted it.

If i got it and didnt want it (id have actually kept it,but theoretically),id have posted it only if the person i was at the game with didnt have a problem with me doing so.

Pretty poor form from your so-called mate.

Allegedly

Basically, yes....
We are best mates so logically I would be the closet person to him to give it to.
Organised him a ticket for the game etc.
Also, I won a trip to London last year for two... Did I take my Mrs? No.
I took him, so you know... One good turn deserves another.

That makes sense then. I didn't know that. Thats extremely fair.

Haha I wouldn't expect you to know that but yeah, what an arsehole haha.
I might just tell him I will pay him later and take of his hands and never pay him for it...
No I will pay him... In time.

Yes but Stefan, you collect, appreciate, enjoy such items. They give you pleasure as they woiuld most users on here. You don't buy today and sell tomorrow for a profit of rip-off propertions. It cost the guy nothing and he took advantage of his friend.

This whole thing reminds me of the glove I got from Moss after the first Phoenix home game.  Interest was high and the thought very fleetingly crossed my mind (for about a picosecond ;)) of selling it.

In the end I thought it should be shared and so I told my football club they could have it to hang in the clubrooms.  A bit of framing later and the club has another football related memento for everyone to enjoy.  I have no idea if anyone even looks and it........ :)

Im not a complete idiot, some parts are missing!

Mate you should be proud. That sort of selfless action should be applauded.

I had a good looksie last time I was there, wouldn't dream of selling on any of the collectable stuff I have, things like the signed Wood's shirt from the first leg and a pair of signed Pasty gloves are just too fantastic to let go.
You know we belong together...
