Same as Jordan squad probably

Goalkeepers:
Mark PASTON (Wellington Phoenix 20/0)
Jimmy BANNATYNE (Petone 5/0)

Defenders:
Andrew BOYENS (New York Red Bulls 13/0)
Tony LOCHHEAD (Wellington Phoenix 18/0)
David MULLIGAN (Wellington Phoenix 29/3)
Ryan NELSEN (Captain, Blackburn Rovers 38/9)
Aaron SCOTT (Unattached 4/0)
Ben SIGMUND (Wellington Phoenix 9/1)
Ivan VICELICH (Central United 69/7)

Midfielders:
Andy BARRON (Miramar Rangers 11/1)
Leo BERTOS (Wellington Phoenix 27/0)
Tim BROWN (Wellington Phoenix 24/0)
Simon ELLIOTT (San Jose Earthquakes 64/8)
Michael MCGLINCHEY (Central Coast Mariners 0/0)

Forwards:
Rory FALLON (Plymouth Argyle 0/0)
Chris KILLEN (Celtic 24/17)
Shane SMELTZ (Gold Coast United 28/15)
Chris WOOD (West Bromwich Albion 3/0)

Not considered due to injury:
Jarrod SMITH (Unattached)
Jeremy BROCKIE (North Queensland Fury)

Non-travelling reserves:
Kris BRIGHT (Shrewsbury Town)
Duncan OUGHTON (Columbus Crew)
Chris JAMES (Tampere United)
Jeremy CHRISTIE (Unattached)
Jacob SPOONLEY (Glenfield Rovers)

Not sure about things on the injury front, but I'm hoping Oughton makes the final squad, and Mulligan is kept as far away from it as possible.
You know we belong together...

go on then.

But anyway, at least other international clubs have  reserve team for others to play in.  Loligan hasn't had a club game for god knows how many games

WPX did say ALL international teams - so he's going to be working on that list of examples for some time i reckon

SWP when he played for Chelsea, rarely got a game us but got alot for England. Wayne Bridge was effectively the Mulligan of Chelsea when he played there. Walcott aswell for Arsenal and then when he plays for England.

Alot of lower teams have guys who are reserves for bigger team but rarely play and when they do play its off the bench. Totori I am guessing when he played in the States would be one of these players. Quite a few examples in the Australian national team aswell.

United States have a few, Oguchi Onyewu is one. Plays for Milan, rarely (if at all) gets a game while gets more games for the US team then Mulligan does for us.

For us typically it would be Killen however atm this is not true. Christie aswell had this problem when he played for us.

I left out keepers for obvious reasons but they are the ones that are in this situation most often.

Free Agent atm. I think he is lining something up in India of all places.

Me thinks Old will be pushing Mulligan. He's playing regularly in the SPL and is more versitile across the back line. Had a bad run at the Nix but must have improved to be in the SPL.

Its no longer a problem.

That midfield worries me.

Three for me, and two for them.

Haha, I was bang on with my pick.

You are right Buffon about the midfield, it is a pity that James is injured but maybe Mulligan can play there, his natural position and show his real worth.  He is not a natural defender which is why hes been shown up for NZ and in his decidedly few appearances for the Phoenix.

Its a pity there is no Oughton.

Glad to see McGlinchey and Fallon in there -  they seemed to me to be very valuable inclusions.  On the day I'd love to see Killen and Smeltz start up front, with Fallon substituted on sometime after the half-way mark.  With both starting and scoring (edit - for their club teams, but sure, hopefully in Bahrain too), I wouldn't like to pick who you'd sub off though.

McGlinchey, Mulligan, Brown and Bertos could make an interesting midfield.

I'll have to reserve judgement. Other options?

Well, for starters I think you'll find Elliott will be one of the midfielders.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Based on the Jordan game I think very likely he will start ...

Sigmund             Vicelich           Nelsen            Lochead

McGlinchey        Brown            Elliott               Bertos

                                 Smeltz

                                             Killen

Possible he could put vicelich on the bench, push Sigmund central and slot Soott in at right back, but he probably showed his preferred hand in Amman

i think that  mulligan  will play  right  midfielder  or  as  central midfielder  since  he is  short and  fast  and will  cope withe the  bahreins

sad  no  oughton and  kris bright  for me can  play  wide as  an attacking  midfielder  , since  brockie is not in there

team for  me  will be

paston

sigmund      nelsen    vicellich   lochead

   mulligan    brown      elliot

mc glinchey                               bertos

                        smeltz

an attacking  4-3-2-1   formation that  can  bring  possesion  ( most important)  control of the speed  of the game,  fast  players to  cope with  their  opponents  and   mc glinchey and  bertos  the freedom they  need  to   open  wide  bahrein

subs   bentyme /boyens /scott/ barron / wood/fallon/killen

anyway  i  still think  this  team  is short  in  1 or 2 players  maybe   OUGHTON AND  BRIGHT

REGARDS FROM BS AS  ARGENTINA

Whilst it took a while to recover from the nightmares caused by Old when at the Phoenix I am a bit surprised he has not made it into the squad.

He's playing in SPL against decent opposition and is actually getting game time, 0-0 against Rangers suggests he can't be doing that bad. The named defenders include Mulligan and Scott who effectively play for no-one, neither of them are getting any competitive game time and it's not like they are must have players. Maybe RH has yet to recover from his Old memories.

and when we play at the rof - sure, bring in Fallon etc....
