Brockie did his lid about that long ball that went out for a goal kick. Did he not listen to Herbert when the game plan was discussed?

Fuck this stupid game

From reading the pre-match comment from herbert, i got the distinct impression we were going to basically set out to have 0% possession and test our defensive resolve, with a view to doing exactly that when we play the away leg for real.

Fuckin Herbert. Parking the bus for 90 mins against Mexico ? Sweet dreams Brazil 2014.

to be fair that's the only way the AWs have been successful in the last 30 years

What about when we played Italy and Serbia before SA WC ?

Italy was before Confeds

im not sure a couple of warm-up friendlies would qualify as successful

Was a bit of a generalisation obviously but was more referring to the 2010 qualifying campaign and world cup finals. Other notable successes are few and far between in terms of competitive football in the last 30 years - perhaps that 1-0 win over aus when nelsen scored? Not sure how much bus parking went on there though...

not that much, remember that game vividly

If this ends up being the final score, that means only 1 goal in our last four games, not great reading.

On the other hand, would be happy if we drew 0-0 with Mexico twice and went to penalties..

0-0 at half time NZ looking good at times but too many wasted balls when in a good attacking position (Barbarouses/Brockie/Lochead). 2 shots on target each? Good free kick from Trindad and decent volley shot from Clapham. Commentator says "I think we will be able to cause this NZ team trouble because the are not a quick team" at half time.

10 minutes to go for the Concacaf games..

Game plan to beat a team like Mexico, first dont get counter attacks, play tidy, and composed on the ball, no turn overs, and silly gave aways, and physical presence is a plus, so attacks from the flanks, get free kicks for the tall guys, they tall guys doesnt need to make offensive fauls, they difference is obvious, the mexican will try not to concede fouls in danger areas,..

Mexico is in a danger zone, people will support them but if they are down, they stadium can be very silent, even if you are winning they may support they away team.  The only way to overtake Mexico is the way USA played last time, very physical and the run the whole game, they pressed further on, of course they were the home team.

NZ will need to operate with the fastest midfielders available and a player mobile up front like the kid Wood could be handful because he is tall, strong but also very mobile can do the windshield thing as Rodrigo Palacio does for Inter Milan and Argentina

Or.... bet we just sit deep and try to soak up the pressure for 90 and hope to pinch a goal on a set piece up field or just take a 0-0 draw.

FFA reporting that Storm Roux has been called up for next months qualifier. It's a good decision but why has it taken this long? If he plays itl be his first ever game for the All Whites. He should have been there for T&T. Also, surely this squad won't be officially announced for awhile.

so a 0-0 draw against T&T.
