According to a 'breaking news' story Miles Davis just read out, Brown is heading back to NZ for further scans etc, after an initial scan showed a fractured bone...

BREAKING NEWS: All Whites vice-captain Tim Brown's World Cup dream is in serious doubt.

Brown is on a plane back to Wellington after scans this morning revealed he has a fractured shoulder.

The midfielder went to hospital last night after suffering falling heavily on his shoulder during the first half the the All Whites' 2-1 loss.

A New Zealand Football spokesman today confirmed CT and MRI scans in Melbourne had revealed the fracture.

The full extent on the injury is not yet known but Brown will miss the European leg of the All Whites' World Cup buildup and though he is hopeful of joing the team in South Africa, he could well miss the World Cup.

NZF are awaiting further results before deciding whether Brown will be replaced on trip to Europe.

This will be a huge blow. Our only genuine goalscoring midfielder.

If Grella was red carded that challenge with Brown would have never happened.

Need more info on the injury, but it's really not looking good. Depending on what bone was fractured, recovery time is at least 3 weeks. Lets hope for a Brockie like recovery.

It will be a minor miracle for him to make the WC.  Get better soon mate, we need you!

Sad day and guess Aussie cheating tactics paid off. Bertos taken out of game, our goal scoring midfielder coming home. Now its upto Simon Elliot who gave away the ball more than he made.
Bugger!

The important thing is, will Tim need surgery? If not, then he's got every chance of still making the cup. So good vibes, sacrifice chickens to Asclepius, etc etc.

if he can avoid an operation, hopefully plenty of rehab, stacks of injections and he can get through the world cup before sorting the shoulder out permanently afterwards.

No no no no no!!! :(

I was planning on wearing a head bandage to the game against Serbia, not quite the same if the lucky man himself isn't there :(

I really hope he heals quickly.. positive vibes.... must be so gutting for him!

Take Oughton FFS. this is why...In 2009, Duncan scored a bicycle kick goal against USL 1st Division team, the Rochester Rhinos, in an US Open Cup match...f**king take him...but then again Dadi wasnt the best after a penalty...

If he can score against the Rochester Rhinos, Italy should be no problem.

Anyone know where we can get a hyperbaric chamber?

I've heard that using one of these daily during recovery can as much as halve healing times. Don't know if that applies to bones though.

f**k

Was it Cahill who put his foot into his back who originally hurt him? I guess that kind of recrimination is in the match thread...

It ain't over until I, with my Doctorate in the Voodoo Sciences, say it's over.

If I have one inch of mojo in my body, or any sway with the pestilent gods*, Tim Brown will go to the World Cup.

* I probably don't.
