If it comes to penalties like the socceroos game just did I'm figuring we missed out in the u20s workd cup. We missed out in the Olympics. Surely third time lucky for us.

Not sure why but following the Socceroos match this morning has made me very nervous for tomorrow.

Also didn’t realise how much CR are favourites. Bookies aren’t paying much for them to win.

Tbf they have a world class goalkeeper and we don’t, nor do we even know who our starting keeper will be.

Could be pivotal in what I think will be a very cagey and tight game.

Yipe I don't think we want it going to pens. Navas is world class, and they are overall just far more experienced in those high pressure situations. At Brazil 2014 Ticos bet Greece on pens Round of 16, then lost on pens in quarters to the Dutch. That's when Navas first really got noticed. Throw in a heap of UCL knock out games, and he's been there done that many times over.

But to me today's result overall is encouraging for the AWs. An Australasian team shutting down and beating a more favoured Latino side.

Is just such a pity we don't have either or both - Thomas & Singh. Mooy really set the tiempo for Socceroos, dropping deep & getting the ball off his 2 CBs, and playing through from there. Imagine Bell doing that alongside Thomas, with Garbett & Singh in front of them. Really hope it happens one day, and in that scenario I see the AWs playing a back 4.

Peruvians really found it hard to press as high as they did against us, but then Mooy & Co were just more precise with their passing compared to Stamenic, Tuiloma, Bell etc in Barcelona (esp first half in Spain)

Without Thomas & Singh, I think back 3/5 is the way too go. Cacace is hopefully gonna be a big threat for us. 3 CBs allows him more leeway to bomb forward. Boyle (yeah he's a winger) was a big threat against Peruvians today, esp in the first half. I see Libby as our best bet to do similar, not any of our actual wingers.

Why can't we trust Marinovich... has done nothing wrong for the All Whites ever to my memory.

Sail is solid.

Biggest problem is lack of creativity.

Yep, we've kept clean sheets over the last few games, we haven't scored any goals.

The keeper is not among the biggest factors at all in my mind. Even if we had Neuer we won't do much if we can't score.

Is it just me or is everyone struggling to focus on anything but the game tomorrow morning?
Seeing the Aussies beat Peru via a penalty shootout has given me more hope, but has also meant I'm expecting a 2 hour stress fest tomorrow morning.

Have confirmed that channel 10 aren't playing it, so don't bother.

We'll need to look for dodgy streams.

First time I haven't been able to watch a NZ world cup qualifier properly over here!

Alright I'm off to bed lads. Not sure how easy it will to get to sleep. Have gotten butterflies in my stomach any time I've thought about the game during the day, which to be honest has been pretty much all day.

I've really enjoyed the build up that's taken place over the last 9 months. While lacking in experience it's still been a treat to see this All Whites side play with passion and belief and really go from strength to strength. No matter what happens tomorrow I really hope Danny Hay stays on. There's still work to do, but this brand and culture he has nurtured in both the players and the fan base is something I am desperate to see continued. It's been so great to have juneof86 pop in each month to give us the latest inside scoop on the inner workings of concacaf football. I also have felt moreup to date with the goings on in nz football than ever before thanks to Coochie keeping us all in the loop. And everyone else who has chimed in, in conversation this year it's all been very insightful.

It's so surreal the day is finally here, and If we pull off this heist tomorrow, not only will it hold a place in the nation's greatest all time sporting moments, the future landscape of the game in our country will hopefully be changed for the better. At least Five fixtures to see out the remainder of the year. All against quality opposition. These young talents we've developed getting themselves in the shop window to further develop their careers. A heap ton more financial security for NZF. As a fan I have everything crossed fingers, toes, earlobes, you name it.

See you in the morning, everyone. And let's show the footballing world what we're made of!

Did the kiwi events in the Olympics with a VPN, but haven’t used any VPN stuff outside that.

Probably should get at least a nap in before 3am. Apparently it’s guna be on the FifaPlus site or something, not terrestrial TV?

Coming from a country where making the World Cup is part of our DNA and each 4 years were expected to either win or go far (Argentina) I can’t really relate or understand what countries like NZ (a tiny fish in a big pond) and NZ football fans feel with these kind of games (Like i am sure NZ fans don’t know what it feels like to reach a World Cup final or a semi or the heartbreak of going out on penalties or extra time) but i only wish them all the success tomorrow and hope that you make it, as I’m a neutralised New Zealander who has embraced the country and its people. It won’t be easy and as we say in Argentina, there will be a lot of “Sufrimiento” which means suffering but i hope you all enjoy it as much as you can… I hope to see you all in Qatar and be there to witness when Leo, with the help of Diego up there in heaven, bring it home like in 1986 =) =) =).. Really looking forward to this match after watching Australia qualify. IMO man for man we have better players than Australia. I would have Ryan and Moody from their starting eleven but thats about it. Australia have a better coach and are much better prepared, the All Whites looked underdone against Peru. If we can keep the score 0-0 well into the second half then it’s definitely game on. Key to the match will be a no error defense, trying not to get over run in midfield and getting some quality ball to Wood.

Off top of my head Hrustic and Boyle would also waltz into a combined full strength ANZAC side. But yeah then it would start to get interesting.

Come on AWs!

That projected Costa Rica lineup we saw earlier was not even close to right. I’m a little surprised by Gerson Torres being picked over Venegas. If I were a Costa Rican I would be happy to see Campbell in the midfield and Contreras up top. I am stunned to see Jewison Bennette out there. Only 17 years old, but he is very fast. I’ve only ever seen him on the left wing, while Torres can play a few spots, so maybe the graphic isn’t 100% accurate.

I think the AWs have to do what they can to beat Fuller. He’s the weak link in the back. That being said, Campbell is their best outfield play and Fuller is fast and good going forward. Cacace looks like he’s going to have to put in a shift defensively. They also went with the slower, more experienced midfield pair of Tejada and Borges. Not a big surprise, but that’s a pretty attack-minded group of three in the 4-2-3-1, there might be space to play and hold the ball in the midfield.

Good luck Kiwis!
