Would you be allowed out anyway ?

Port Vila doesn't have the infrastructure for live broadcast was what I saw somewhere but I've emailed SNZ for the full word.

What, are NZ Football meant to pay for it themselves then ?

Port Vila doesn't have the infrastructure, and NZ Football doesn't have the money.

Mate, the place is very much a "developing nation" (they're trying to be nice but calling poor countries that is still very condescending) and they probably dont even have television at all let alone enough major sporting fixtures to warrant the infrastructure to broadcast it live.

The oceania website may be the best place to keep tabs on this game. http://www.oceaniafootball.com/ Any other suggestions?

What radio station is it going to be on? Radiosport?

I really hope the commentator doesn't have the same accent as the Fijian-Indian commentator in the All Whites last match! That was painful on the ears!

The New Zealand All Whites team are arriving in Vanuatu on Friday 16 November, one day before their first encounter with the Vanuatu national team in the first round of their two two leg world cup play off in Port Vila on Saturday 17 November.

The Vanuatu Football Federation has confirmed that the boys for Aoteroa will be arriving at half past three in the afternoon, and will be checking in to the Melanesian Hotel.

New Zealand gave Vanuatu their first taste of world cup competition 15 years ago at the Port Vila Stadium. Charles Vatu had his name down on history when he became the first ni-Vanuatu player to score Vanuatu's first goal in a world cup game.  New Zealand won then by 3 goals to 1. Due to poor facilities, Vanuatu has not hosted any world cup matches at senior level since that game.

Meanwhile Vanuatu football has develop tremendously over the past years. The last time Vanuatu met New Zealand in the 2004 world cup play off in Adelaide, they managed to outscore the All Whites by 4 goals to 2. The win sent signals to FIFA and especially OFC that the islands were catching up, thanks to their various development programs.

In Port Vila VFF officials are preparing to host the New Zealand team, as well as FIFA and OFC officials who will be coming for the game. According to VFF, the referees of the match will be arriving in the Vanuatu capital on Friday morning, while the match commissioner and other officials will be arriving with the All Whites team on Friday afternoon.

*FM107 will be web streaming the match live - Details on the web site

(EDIT)
You may need to register for this site to get this game live.
Capitol FM 107 is collaborating with the Vanuatu Football Federation, Telecom Vanuatu and Vanuatu Online to do a live coverage of the Saturday 17 November match on the internet as well as to the local audience. Internet users will be able to follow live the match as it happens here in Port Vila.

We will be streaming direct from the ground with one of Vanuatu's top sports announcers, Moses Stevens. We have arranged for Bandwidth On Tap with our streaming provider in the US so we will have 'unlimited' capacity to handle the expected number of people logging in to listen. The stream will run for about 2 hours this Saturday afternoon LIVE.

The exact time will be advised in the next day or so.

Webbies will be able to listen either through their web browser (make sure you have an up to date audio plug-in installed), iTunes, Real Player etc. If you can currently listen to FM107 on the web, you will be able to listen to the soccer match.

Love your work Sanday. I'm guessing its only audio though and not video streaming. Toffeeman2007-11-16 09:59:53
