This was the starting lineup. Vlok & Benson on the pine. Back fired big time sadly.

WTF can understand maybe taking Vlok and Benson off but to not start them is surely crazy. Thats being said having not seeing the game. Just dont get it you need a result and you start two of your better players from the bench.
Benson was fit to play but coach decided not to play her at all in this game which is baffling.

There were also multiple changes to starting line up between game 1 and 2. So I guess the coach decided to give everyone an equal run at this tournament.
Stats will show. After 1 & half games we were 2 goals conceded and 1 scored.
Last 1 & half we conceded 12 and scored 0.
From a promising start it all came crashing down for this group.
I havnt watched the game but Pretty tough result.

Is that our worst result at any of these age group tournaments ? Alarm bells should be ringing after this.

Last two U20 WWCs it's been 6 games 6 losses. This 9-0 shellacking and 7-0 from Japan 2 years ago (2024).
Prior that 2 draws from 3 games in 2022.

Australia from memory also struggled at the 2024 U20 WWC. So a sign the ALW is a long way behind many other international leagues??
Aussie not at this tourney.

The sooner Auckland FC ALW and ALW womens reserves teams happen next year the better. Broaden the talent base, extra pro pathway, increased top level coaching etc etc for young girls.

I don't know about that, but I'm sure the later breakout of players hasn't been helpful for us.

Look at our squad - only 3 have played regular first team football at a pro level (Daisy Brazendale, Pia Vlok and Zoe Benson)

USA after giving us a hiding, get knocked out in there next match by Brazil.
We obviously softened them up, ready for the Brazilians. I think they owe us.
