This from FIFA - "In scoring her sixth FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup goal, New Zealand's Rosie White moved into the competition's all-time goalscoring top ten, level with USA's Lindsay Tarpley. Appearing in the tournament for the third time, the Kiwi sharpshooter is the only player from the Oceania Zone to feature so high, though she still has some work to do to catch up on the competition’s leading strikers, Germany's Alexandra Popp and Christine Sinclair of Canada. What is more, the latter pair both struck their ten-goal tallies in a single tournament, in 2010 and 2002 respectively."

At half time in one of the matches currently on, PR Korea are beating Argentina 7 nil!

Technically speaking, we could get through with a loss provided Japan lose by enough goals to Switzerland. So in short, yep, you're right, we'll need at least a draw to get through.

Also correct on the second point, 5 points would be the most any NZ team got at a FIFA tournament.

Bad Korea spanked Argentina 9-0.  The 8th goal is gold.

Watching that game last night, I was really impressed by the style of play of that team, the quality of the passing and the overall skill level

God I'm glad I managed to stay up for that. What a great defensive effort from the girls, even Rosie White and Hannah Wilkinson tracking back was top notch. I thought we were gonna nick it right at the end but can't blame the girls for being totally nackered, it looked hot there too.

I couldn't believe they replaced Nakada after less than 30' - she was by far the cutest in the team..
Haha. So true though.

In other news, I just asked Ayu Nakada to be my friend on facebook. I doubt she will accept as so far she's only got 5 friends. If my wife finds out I'm in trouble.

Still worth a shot

If the girls get through tonight, they'll be facing either Nigeria or South Korea in the quarters (probably Nigeria).

Mexico good going forward so far, won't be easy getting a result.

Is Wilkinson playing? She was good in the first couple games, but haven't seen her mentioned yet.

Half time quiz - name the Armstrongs who have played for NZ

Mexico probably the better side, and unlucky not to get a penalty for what looked to me to be a handball. First goal will be vital, hopefully we can get Wilkinson more involved in the 2nd half.

Too hard    Ken Armstrong and Sons Ron and Brian also represented the All Whites, while Ron's daughter Bridgette Armstrong. Surely some sort of record.

Not to me.  Think we're second best nearly everywhere.  Unless there is a turn-around I can see us shipping three.

Agree with News, haven't felt like we have been in it since the first 10 or so.  Really need to step up for the last 30 if we are going to come back from this.

I blame all the articles saying we've going to do this and that. And then coming up short.  NZF need to stop talking them up.  Just let these teams quietly go about their work.

pfft what? Its a world cup - on global television. How to you suppose we let them go quietly about their work? And if what you say is true - then thats their problem for letting it get to them, and they'll never become successful professional footballers if theyre that easily distracted.

I'm drunk and angry ok.  Just tired of being let down by our national teams.
