I disagree, it was an awful game, but ACFC definitely deserved to be eliminated less than the home side.

So basically exactly what I said?

Glad I didn't watch all of that for a loss on pens.

Good stuff Auckland, always happy to see a NZ team do well overseas!

Well done acfc. It doesn't matter at all about the quality of the game, it is the result, and you got it. Great day for nz football

Yeah, I guess.  I started typing that ACFC deserved the win more, but just couldn't quite do it!  Maybe if it had been 90' rather than 120' I might have been able to do it, but that last half hour really knocked me about!

Hmm.

Interesting negative comment considering ACFC have, once again, achieved an exceptional result against both Uzbekistan and now the Moroccan champions.

Clean sheets (bar for penalties) against both too. Well played Tamati!

I wouldn't. CWC would not happen that way.

But if you are the 5th best team in the world are you not? You should be able to sweep the HAL, make a convincing case as to why you should be in, then get through the AFC teams without breaking a sweat all before lunchtime and NZF realising that they have put their infinite millions into the Phoenix in error all these years.

(this may or may not have used sarcasm)

No shame in being the 2nd best team in the world. Real Madrid aspire to be that...

Funny innit. Once upon a time I would have been absolutely stoked by this ACFC result. Kiwis on the world stage, doin' it!

But you and your friends (or multis?) and your insistent trolling on here has gradually made me more and more apathetic about it all.

I suppose overall it's good for the game here because of the money and the exposure it brings.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I may or may not have slept through the first half but either way in the second half the commentator was almost constantly talking about how good ACFC's center halve was (Dodovic or something similar). Anybody else think he is good enough to possibly be a future Phoenix CB or not?

Based on the sending off in the 4-0 defeat against Team Wellington a fortnight ago.  No.

Team Wellington provided much more of a threat to City than the Morrocans did.

I for one refuse to be influenced by the ACFC fans on here and the constant battle between them and the other forumites - this is a great result for ACFC and for NZ and this was re-inforced to me by watching people at work today huddle around and watch ACFC in the pens and giving an NZ team support.

FYI - it's possible to be an ACFC fan and a Nix fan!

While I agree with Smithy to some extent, putting aside all the A-League / ACFC / Phoenix crap for a bit - it's a great result for ACFC today.

Their fans and all of NZ football should be happy for the lads.  Hopefully the momentum built will give them some confidence going into the next game.

I think we can all be bigger than to judge the whole club on the behaviour of a few muppets on here can't we?

I get a bit sick of the muppetry too but nevertheless I'm stoked for ACFC. I'll never support them with the passion or dedication that I support the Nix but I wish them all the best at the CWC. Good on them and good luck for the next game.

Next game is on  13th Dec 16.00 local time which will probably be the same time as today. Plus 13 hours local time.

I agree entirely it's definitely possible to be an ACFC fan and a Nix fan!! I go to every ACFC game at Kiwitea Street but it doesn't stop me from watching the Phoenix and wanting them to do well and I'll definitely be there at Eden Park on Saturday supporting the Nix. Our first teams play in different comps we shouldn't be rivals.

I am with Chopah. Can be a fan of both. As much as there are 2 trolls here, there are equally a few yf trawlers, see JV post above, which are as much a waste of space

Also worth mentioning when the two teams played last year at Kiwitea in the after match speeches I clearly remember ACFC board member Mitch Herceg stating "We support the Phoenix" and the Nix were one of the first clubs to congratulate ACFC on this morning's result. To me it goes to show the two clubs actually get on and are supportive of each other so I can't see why some ACFC trolls don't accept the existence of the Phoenix and constantly send abuse. It's a false rivalry a one way rivalry. It's dumb.

I'll support any kiwi football team playing against any non-kiwi team so I'm happy with the result. But the attitude of the ACFC trolls on here means that I sincerely hope that every other ASBP side smashes ACFC every time they meet.

Even as an ACFC fan I fully understand I'd get pissed off after a while with the trolling on these forums

Haha, all good. To be honest, more than it pissing me off the attitude amuses me. I kind of enjoy the silly rivalry, because it is so dumb.
