Wow. Veeeery awkward.
"So, uh, what would you say were your favourite parts of the game?"
Write-up and photos of the final are up for anyone interested...
Interesting opening day of the 2013 national women's league today. Mainland impressive. Northern disappointing but still managed to win 4-0. Reckon the title is really up for grabs this year and it's going to be fun to watch. Here's my write-up and photos from Parrs Park today for anyone interested:

Thanks Enzo. Love that Northern strip. Traditional Northern colours?

They usually wear all black, the pink is a new addition! I think it's great but I have been accused of poor taste in this area before. :-)

Quite a good watch apart from the goals, which were u.g.l.y.
Is that the same Wellington keeper as last season?
Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I heart own goals.
Just one.
Aimee Phillips gave Canty the early lead with Beckey Hecker reply after 28 minutes. In the 50th minute a poor back pass had Auckland keeper racing back to clear the ball off her line only to fire the ball onto the goal.
Hope we don't get reliant on OGs in both summer leagues, been a good weekend for OGs.

Top of the table clash in Christchurch next Sunday.
...and here is my write-up and photos from Auckland vs Northern:
http://in-the-back-of-the.net/2013/11/10/battle-of-the-bridge/
Tight goalless game for 70 mins at ASB park in Chch today between Mainland Pride and Northern. Pride GK Alfield kept the home team in it with a couple of 1v1 saves. After switching Mouse Moore from CB to RB she had more freedom to roam forward. Not long after, she created a neat near post cross that saw Aimee Phillips finish for a 1-0 lead - that lasted about 60 seconds after sloppy work in the Pride backline. Momentum had shifted and Northern then scored another from a good through ball and clinical finish. Game had opened up by now and in search of an equaliser Pride conceded a 3rd late. Two evenly matched teams but northern were more threatening in the attacking third and took their chances well.

Damn!

Ground announcer put the crowd at 280 yesterday, half time entertainment included an all girls SSG demo from a local club and a local radio station got the crowd to do a mexican wave. There are worse ways to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon.
Kotahitanga. We are one.
Yes I was there too, was a nice day out. Don't often watch Women's football but it was a cracker. There was an article in today's Press about the game however it doesn't appear online for me to link to it.
The Northern goalie was reminded a few times how she coughed the ball into the net for Coastal's winner in the NZ final, and 2 minutes later she did the same thing!
She did have the last laugh with her team running away with it yesterday, and she gave us a one-fingered salute on the way out.
Classy!
I let my guitar speak for me
