Wellington Rugby become a partner with a regional football team/ franchise.

Advantages share use of facilities, medicine, pooling resources.

Possible appetite for that type of setup could be out there, I think.

I wouldn't go sharing needles with rugby players

Slightly off topic about Auckland City but on the topic of pokie funding - one of the things that amuses me about the whole brouhaha about pokie funding is that people with a historical knowledge of National League football will remember when that when the franchise league system was bought in , the prime advocate (Bill MacGowan) stated that the existing  club based league was too dependent on pokie machine funding and the franchise system would reduce that. It seems to me that the current league is even more dependent on that funding source ?

And how many jobs has MacGowan burnt through as CEO.....?

From a Welnix (Phoenix members) meeting I understood they had approached Wgtn Rugby about sharing backroom ops. They were not keen.

No second ter use of the money from trusts. If NZF got the money they would have to employ the youth coaches in every ASB side.NZF can not redistribute the money to another party. (NZF already have a full roster of funded coaches) IMHO

Chianese it is. I wouldn't bother, he's rubbish.

That really is a very odd move for them.

Maybe connected to DeVries trialling with Syd.

Apparently both Auckland and Chianese were keen on the transfer but couldn't get it sorted in time for the OCL and as a result it's not going ahead now.

So ACFC signed him from his Aussie club and then sold him?

Yeah so twist there. So apparently ACFC signed Chianese but could not register him in time for the O-League, which is the main reason he wanted to sign.

Malaysia Club Sabah, who have only just signed former Brisbane Roar coach Mike Mulvey as their head coach, then immediately offered "a very tidy transfer fee" for Chianese which ACFC accepted.

interesting that his original preference was to play for free for an amateur side, than professionally for the Malaysian side....

Apparently Colin Murphy, Ant Hobbs and Danyon Drake have all joined according to an article on the Auckland City website.

That World Club Cup is a hell of a carrot.

Thank god they have organised this as the live streaming last year was terrible.

The reality is he would have been on the same money at both clubs, despite the 'status'.

Pleased with the 5-1 win over Waitakere always good to flog the local rivals. Hopefully the final is more competitive.

So ACFC signed him from his Aussie club and then sold him?

SST explained it tonight, he signed for ACFC but had a 30 day stand down which ruled him out of the OCL so was sold because they would be paying him and unable to play him.

'paying him'

Can't imagine the stand down period would have got in the way of the coaching that he was being paid to do.

Anyone having trouble with the stream?

Yep, lagging and sound is off and on. Probably because of my internet though..

Had pixellation, lagging etc for first 13 minutes of match, since then (up to at time of writing 18 mins) it's been watchable.
