Enjoyable game and thought HBU a bit unfortunate . Set themselves up well and thought that Tinsley was close to the best player on the park.

AC dominated possession so it was hard to see HBU scoring again once behind. Did not have a good view of the controversial hand ball decision , but did hear O'Leary comment "my fault" which made everyone think he had made an error but refused to change his decision.

HBU won the whinging championship however.

I wondered too about Irving - thought I saw him in one of the photos of the presentation - injured or a foreign player quota issue ?

He's having an op on his shoulder. Out longterm.

Bad luck for him, he was supposed to go to England for a trial with Portsmouth

I think he did. Then they found out about his shoulder.

They have a +6 GD, whilst Amicale has +2, so a draw is enough to get into the next round?

Looks like Tribulietx will be coaching the Brisbane Roar next season.

Auckland City coach Ramon Tribulietx is in the running to coach Brisbane Roar next season, according to media reports in New Zealand.

Tribulietx led Auckland to the bronze medal in last year's FIFA Club World Cup, beating Mexico's Cruz Azul on penalties in the play-off for third.

Roar football director Ken Stead visited New Zealand last month to interview Tribulietx, The Courier-Mail reports.

The 42 year-year old Spaniard is currently with Auckland City in Fiji at the Oceania Champions League, where it plays Team Wellington in Sunday's final and is chasing a fifth successive title.

Dutchman Frans Thijssen was named interim coach at the Roar in November last year, after Mike Mulvey was sacked six weeks into the new season.

The previous season, Mulvey was named A-League coach of the year after leading Brisbane to the premiership-championship double.

Brisbane sits seventh in this year's A-League, but will make the finals as third-placed Perth Glory us ineligible due to salary cap breaches.

Roar is expected to announce their new coach next month.

Good on him. He deserves the shot.  His overseas contacts could see him bring in some interesting foreign players.

One would think his real challenge will be working with different rules in terms of local players and salary cap etc.

If he does move up, who is next in line for Auckland City?  And will the ACFC fans all of a sudden become Roar and A-League fans?

I've asked this question on this forum. I was told "Its not the players, its the shirt" When players like Roy, Sigmund, Coombes, Mully, Bale etc leave, they are dead to them. I expect, if they are consistent in this stance and their hatred of the HAL, then Ramon would be dead to them too. To do otherwise would be hypocritical of previous statements.

He does deserve a shot. I also expect it to be a shock for him as well. The players wont take the threats there like they do at ACFC.

Yeah that's the question - Who would take the rains over at ACFC. I cant think of any locals good enough for it - Maybe Ivan can do a player/coach gig?.

Plenty of money to pay for a foreign coach, and the potential lure of the CWC to entice them too

Nope - they've gone with former Melbourne Heart flop John Aloisi instead:

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/football-soccer/news/art...

A rather baffling choice !

Aloisi has hardly any coaching CV and was very poor as Heart coach a few years ago before he was sacked.

I agree seems strange choice considering his history! Maybe they felt Ramon was a step to far! Untried at that level maybe....

My guess is that Ramon is the one who said no, not the Roar. Probably saw it for the poisoned chalice it is

Awesome they are going to need to reinforcements up front if DeVries gets picked up

I would have thought with the pace they play at and the style of game they play, then Sean Lovemore would be the perfect target for them. He seems to have matured and would be the fastest striker in the league and has consistency of scoring.

Disagree Vader, Lovemore  has had his day. Still has a tendency for late challenges ONLY when the opposition player's unable to protect themselves. Thinks he's more important than the team he's playing for and doesn't generally get on with his teammates.

To an A-League club? The Soccer Stoppage Time guys were pimping him big time on their show at the end of last season, much like De Vries.
