ACFC Don't always have the ball against TW or Waitakere and that is the only games that matter. The rest are cannon fodder in reality. They cause the odd upset but they are upsets nothing more.

Waitak's bogey team this year seems to be Otago (with 2 draws), Auckland's is Hawkes Bay (with a loss) and TW seem to struggle against both Auckland and Waitak - the only games that count are with each other.

The others have only been cannon fodder this season. In previous seasons that has not been the case. Last season we, TW, would have been considered cannon fodder too.

It seems strange to hear Hawkes Bay described as Auckland's bogey team on the basis of one result. To be a bogey team, there has to be a consistent trend of one team upsetting another team - traditionally a stronger team. Similarly for Waitakere to have Otago declared their bogey on the basis of two draws.

That is the shame of the NZFC - 3 teams and the rest are cannon fodder. A bogey team is two draws how poor is that. Those three teams are so far ahead it isnt funny. Time for the others to sort themselves out.

I think Canterbury are slowly getting it right - mid table next season. Otago - bottom bad players, Manawaut need a new coach nd players - mid table. Hawkes bay could cause a problem next year. It depends if Waitak get to the WCC and have 0-League as well they will just get strnger and stronger and the only clubs who can go with them are City and TW.

Maybe the top 3 will be even better and that is good for the standard of those three teams but the others just need to get better.

Yeah but my point is that this is just one season - you're looking at this season as though it's always like this.

TW have never had it so good as this season, so to put them on some pedestal-like status on the basis of one good season is ridiculous. Canterbury and Manawatu have normally been good but have just had poor seasons. We are a long way from looking at the this season's top 3 and thinking we're in a Premiership big 4 scenario. If we get this season repeating for the next couple of years, then you will have a point. Only Auckland have been strong every single season.

Fair comment. Auckland have been the only consistent side. Waitak had Steve Cain screw up in year 2 to stop their consistency.

Hah yeah where did they finish that year? 6th? 7th?

Three for me, and two for them.

6th I think. How he didnt get the sack no one knows. He survived another season, due I think, to there being no top quality coaches in Auckland for the NZFC level. Pretty obvious that Milicich and Dawkins were still fighting back then so Cain gets another season.

From what I heard, Milicich was given the job when Waitak freaked out that he might have ended up coaching at City.

Word is that Emblen will get the Waitak job next season.

Is that right? Interesting as Waitakere seems like a very happy and together camp right now.

The comment from the 2nd season is that the players in season 1 at Waitak didn't enjoy training/playing for Chris because he was too gruff regimented. They enjoyed season 2 under Steve Cain initially because he wasn't a micro-managed as Chris and was a bit freer but that finished when the season spiralled out of control. Season 3 they got in some better players and got rid of some sh*t ones and this year Rex wanted a fulltimer on board and Steve teaches. I have heard that Emblen is being groomed to succeed Chris but when that happens, who knows.

I would say that there is still some tension at Waitak. You can frequently hear Allan Pearce getting abused by his whole team. Richard Gillespie had a great 1st season at Manawatu but hardly inspires confidence and JP is yelling at him constantly.Graham Pearce is biting everyones head off.  I'm not so sure its all roses and huggle f**ks in their shed.

I can't believe fourkings post about Adam McGeorge...
He;s just a kid! How can you say he's one of the worst players in the League - he's young, and very talented for his age - wouldn't be surprised if he makes the U20's...
Good luck to him - and people need to support the youth... Any game time for an U20 player in the NZFC is great - especially holding his own - and even setting up a goal against TW at the Croatian Club - he's got a future...

i feel there are better young players in the auckland city side. i agree the youth deserve to play and i feel sam campbell has played very well. with mcgeorge tho he just gives away to much ball and doesnt contribute a hellova lot to anything.one assist isnt to much, they have other youngsters who have done that in alex feneridis and lance heslop. nothing against him as i feel he would be good for the u20's but dont feel he is up to acfc's standard at the moment. please dont feel i am being negative about young players because i am strongly for them playing! fourkings2008-04-09 14:48:02

Sam Campbell is gumby and Lance Heslop tries to play too flashy rather than fundamental football. John Miyonsaba is out of his depth with only McGeorge and Feneridis worthy of their place in that team.

I've enjoyed watching that first half. The standard of the game was pretty good really. It could be about 5-3 to Wellington but for wasted chances.

I'd like to say too, that the referee has done a very good job thus far. He's let the game go but picked up the fould etc that needed to be.

A good advert for football here so far!

What was the Red for?
Have to say at 2-1 I thought it was all over for TW!
Can anyone tell me where the Trusts Stadium for the final is?

[QUOTE=Buffon II]What a f**king game!!! Down to 10 men and you still can't beat us, and we even gifted you a goal just so you would get back in the game ffs!!

How come Peter Halstead has a fan club when he's so sh*t? Don't make sense to me.

Hey Buffon, you a bit quiet today. Everything o.k.?
