Seems to be a few coaching changes this season.
Wellington Olympic - Rupert Kemeys takes over Martin Pereyra-Garcia. Seemed weird to bin a guy who won the league.
Miramar - Scott Hales
Wellington Phoenix - Chris Greenacre
Western Suburbs - Ben Sippola gone? Have they named a replacement?
Wairarapa - Kale Herbert
Waterside Karori - Is Sam Smith still there?
Napier City Rovers - Pretty sure Bill Robertson is back.
North Wellington - Davor Tavich
Petone  - Ryan Edwards
Havelock North - Chris Greatholder

Just heard a rumour that Herbert quit over the weekend. Things falling apart over the hill with the women's team quitting the W-League?

High I reckon. They lost 6-1 to NCR in the weekend who I can't imagine are title contenders this season.
Heard there might be some announcement regarding Wairarapa today/tomorrow.

What happens if they quit? 9 team league? No relegation?

Wairarapa United is disappointed to announce it will withdraw from the Capital Football Central League this season. New Head Coach Kale Herbert felt the current team, while full of young talent, lacked the experience necessary to compete against hardened Wellington sides with greater depth and many with National League players. Herbert has resigned as head coach.

WUFC will continue to field U-17, women’s and junior teams as well as run Football in the Community coaching this season.  Investing in talent development is important to us as a club and to the wider football community, and while it is a set-back we will continue to look to the future.

Please get in touch if you are keen to support the club as a funder, sponsor or volunteer as we enjoy the 2022 season in Wairarapa.

What the heck happened? i.e. how did the squad get so desecrated?

Well their operating model seems to be having a financier helping to bring 6-10 names into the region. High risk if they pull the pin.

Anyone heard what will happen with the spaces in cap prem or below? Second relegation reversed, or next highest in the table promoted?

It's always promotion first with Cap footy so Vic Uni should be promoted to Cap Prem

Won't Wairarapa just drop to Cap Prem in a straight swap for Wellington United? Or is that too simple? Not the first time this has happened to Rapa, early 2000's they saved us from getting relegated by pulling out before the following season.

That and it doesn't appear they have a competitive men's team at all now

Which is sad for Rapa but I guess it shows that they were bringing players in each year rather than having a local pool. And thats an expensive way to compete in amateur sport. Most other clubs have feeding teams below from my understanding and running it without it is playing with fire (See Team Taranaki)

On the plus side Football in the Wairarapa has shown very good growth in the last 10 to 15 years. Greytown Football Club was only established about 12 years ago, they have 4 senior teams and about 150 kids playing.
Also Martinborough Football Club has started up in recent years and has shown good growth.

They said on Facebook they won't have a senior men's side at all. So there will be a rejig of all league below unless CF decides to run a 9 team league somewhere

Where does Kale Herbert fit in this, I'm guessing he moved down that way for a paid job rather then a change of lifestyle.

Not looking after their youth players over a period of years hasn't helped. Many talented youngsters left for other clubs - or left the game altogether due to burn out.

The Rapa model was never sustainable, relying on grants and PK's money to bring in a number of name player was never going to see the club have a long existence. Their feeder team was playing in the local league, which is not of the standard needed to support a CL league. Unfortunately the club will probably fold. Rumour is Herbert was owed money by the club. Not sure where he's gone now.

Have the Phoenix been given dispensation from some rules?  I heard they did not have ball Retrievers on the weekend. Did they produce a programme?

NCR were lucky to salvaged a point at home to Petone with last kick of the game. Came in the 10th minute of the supposed 6 additional minutes.

What has happened at Ole? I see that they lost 4 -0 to a very average Petone side.
Perhaps the Ole Puppet can throw some light on it?

I would hate to be an away team at Fraser Park. I've watched at least a dozen games as a neutral spectator over the past year or so as I live nearby and the bias from the officials towards the Nix Academy borders on criminal.

It doesn't help the cause that it seems the whole team has been trained to b**ch and moan about every single decision made by a ref. Every time one of them gets touched in anything even resembling a tackle they fall over and scream blue murder at the refs. The saddest part of it all is that the loudest voices seem to be the ones from the dugout, Greenacre is an absolute shocker and some of the garbage that comes out of his mouth is an embarrassment for an ex professional footballer. I have heard Fallon is no better either.

It's a damn shame because some of these kids can really play. Is this how the future Phoenix players are being taught to act? I understand they're in an ultra competitive environment and trying to make it to the next level, but the ego levels need to be brought down a peg or two.
