Went to North Wellington vs Olympic. Interesting game despite the expectedly one-sided scoreline and very cool conditions.
Scoreline to some extent didn't represent the game - North Wellington competed well for a start keeping Olympic out for a while, but when the floodgates did open Olympic bagged a couple more.
Sort of the same in the second half... was 4-0 for a while, then Olympic doubled the score in the space of about 5-10 minutes.
Despite being out of their depth overall a few impressed me from NW - their left back Fatialofa made some good runs up the pitch to create for them and their 17 as well was quite dynamic. Surprisingly quick team on the counterattack, but their overall play and decision making was light years off Olympic. It was a shame they were missing Wilson Souphanthavong who was a livewire the week prior.
Have to shout out Adam Supyk who scored an absolute belter of a goal on the half-volley for Olympic, another ex-Nix in Josh Rudland had a good game too with a hatty (although the second did not have much intention!). Their new defender Danquah was also super impressive - thought he was more solid than the likes of Gulley and Mata this game.
NW probably should have scored one for themselves too, but Basalaj made a few very good saves to stop them and was honestly one of Olympics best.
Not many implications to draw from this one... but Olympic will be glad to move top of the league. And their travelling support were in good numbers and vocal, good on em!
