Anyone got any news of todays or last nights games?
I watched olympic against north wellington and miramar against upper hutt on fifa+ as I was off to the phoenix game. Olympic look like they just coast to wins and thought north wellington would push them a little more after recent results. Miramar were relatively comfortable barring a mini-resurgence from upper hutt at the end. Great to see louis fenton playing again!

Two different levels of commentary too - in the olympic game the guy had no idea who anyone was, however the Miramar game was not bad at all and I quite enjoyed it - some good stats and player knowledge. Miramar's camera is a bit stop and start though.

Island bay went down to napier today, but didn't manage to see the game. Really opens up the relegation battle with karori and petone now being dragged in...

Just some debuts for youngsters this week in the Central League. Lucah de Roo (Miramar Rangers) and Leo Gunn (Wellington Olympic) both made their debuts while Nicco Swensson did just a few minutes of the bench in goal for Napier after joining from Havelock North this year.

The dude commentating the game between the WeeNix and Petone is hilarious.

"No Coldplay kiss cam"

So, havent posted on here for a long time... But can someone help me understand how Isa Prins is not in the minds of national youth team or pro club coaches? he has x factor and is a massive specimen. Seriously a scary proposition.

A Nix reserves debut for NZ U16 rep Willem des Tombe, who started this season playing in the U16s. Although I assume this debut will be due to the amount of reserves regulars heading over to Perth.

Not sure about that one, not including the two suspended players (Cassidy and Lee), there were only three changes between the squad that lost to Miramar and the one Petone played.

The nix still had first choice GK, Flowerdew, Makowem. The only really notable absence was Candy.

There’s also a load of players away at Perth who have played if not regularly in CL

The starting eleven v wharf was all players in Perth apart from Cassidy

So all the players are getting regular CL then? How have Petone got the jackpot? They could have played their cap 1 team the week prior when all the Nix players were lining up against Wrexham but they agreed to postpone the game.

And they would have got the jackpot had they done that.
Even you can understand the variability in the nix team despite them telling the league it was a thing of the past.
Show me another clubs instance where they had no starting player in common amongst any two game weeks??

apear waterside had 3 debuts

By my count, there were 2 debuts for Bhagatdeep Singh Shergill and Finlay Michie. I know Michie was previously at the Nix and both have been playing for Karori's reserves this season. Not a great time to debut though, it seems like Karori have really gone downhill after a decent start to the season. From my memory this happened last season too?

Ah, I'd counted his Chatham Cup appearance as a debut but this would have been his league debut.

oh yes sorry but as you were saying before this seems like a terrible time to be debuting in a relegation race. i understood they lost a few guys but surely you have some people who have been arround the first team or bring a few players in

Big weekend for relegation. Petone look to be safe now. North Wellington v Karori looks to be the most interesting. NW have been last since round 4 but have two winable games. Most likely come down to that last game vs UH. IBu still in a bit of trouble if they lose this weekend to Petone, while Kaori would have a nervous last 2 games if they lose to NW.

Petone
15 pts -3GD
Form: LLLWD (4 pts)
Remaining games: Island Bay (H), Napier (A), Miramar (H)

Waterside Karori
13 pts -33GD
Form: DLLLL (1pt)
Remaining games: North Wellington (H), Miramar (A), Phoenix (H)

Island Bay
12 pts -24GD
Form: LLWLL (3pts)
Remaining games:  Petone (A), Olympic (H), Wests (A)

Upper Hutt
12 pts -27GD
Form: DWLLD (5 pts)
Remaining games: Olympic (A), Wests (H), North Wellington (A)

North Wellington
10 pts -34GD
Form: WDWLL (7pts)
Remaining games: Karori (A), Phoenix (A), Upper Hutt (H)

Went to first 60 minutes of this game before I got too cold. Absolutely horrible conditions and NW's defence seemed all over the place.

Well a surprise result at Wakefield Park. Strong winds completely played havoc the whole game. Upper Hutts number 9 smashed them in front early doors with a great strike. Watto restoring parity a few mins later. Upper Hutt faced the headwind in the second half so were defensive for much of it but Olympics forwards largely couldn't adapt to the conditions and the visitors managed to hold on. Second half was very disjointed, any long pass/clearance/set piece/goal kick would just swerve and float in any direction. Even stopped for hail at one point. Think Olympic had more supporters inside the clubroom watching on FIFA+ than outside watching in real time!

Well done Upper Hutt great result for them!

Can't see a lot changing, I imagine the relegation battle will go to the wire though. North Wellington v Upper Hutt on the final day could be a big game.

A bunch of youngsters getting on for their debuts yesterday. Benji Holden got a half for North Wellington in their heavy loss, can't say I really noticed him in the game but I was mainly trying to find ways to shelter from the rain. Petone had Finn O'Connor making his debut and the WeeNix gave Joseph Chalabi and Marcus Commisso starts. Even by the standards of the Nix Academy those two are very young, both started the season in the U16s.

Chalabi in goal wouldn't have played if the Nix weren't desperately short of keepers at the top end. Oluwayemi ill and Kelly-Heald injured meant Eamonn McCarron started in the Aus Cup and Matt Foord was on the bench.

Chalabi comes from Christchurch United, the same club Foord spent a bit of time at before joining Cashmere Tech and then going on to the Phoenix from there.

Dylan Gardiner sent off just before half time I see.  What for?  Would impact the ban he gets.  He was just back after a yellow card accumulation one game out.  Reckon this lad is a good player, but a record like that is going to factor in contract possibilities.

was at the match but you can see the highlights on fifa plus. i was down the other end and looked like he pushed the opposition to the floor following through with an elbow but by the time i wandered down toward the end of the pitch it was the ref could be heard saying about a kick out so maybe he kicked him on the floor🤷‍♂️

... red cards did not hurt Finn Surman.   Wiki said he made 20 appearances for the reserves, thats 10%!
