I’ve only been there for their KSC match against the Nix in June, but they didn’t charge then.

Years ago Miramar used to charge for Chatham Cup later stages - e.g. $5 for the CC semi final in 2012 versus Central United - and charged $10 for the 2022 National League matches but haven't charged since then in any match I've been to at Davey F.

Wairarapa United used to charge $5 when they were in CL.

Napier vs Miramar this weekend is gonna be very interesting. If Napier win they go into the final matchday with a 3pt lead minimum, which yes doesn't mean they can't slip if they lose but still (1pt if they draw and Olympic win). Meanwhile if Miramar win Olympic go top of the ladder on GD and potentially steal a 6th straight title. Even that's not definite though since Napier have Western in the final round, and have the potential to overturn the GD with an overwhelming performance (No offence but kinda realistic).

So much can still happen, but I'd still favour Napier since they only need a draw against Miramar then a win over Western to seal the title, which I think is a realistic outcome.

If Wests win and Miramar lose this weekend too, then that final day clash would be a winner takes all for a NLC spot too!

What's the word on Nelson going to the Central League? Honestly forgot about it until a mate brought it up yesterday and believing it was a done deal, is it actually or still just rumours?

Is your mate known for being right?

Thing is he's not really in the know with these things, which is why it surprised me that he'd heard the rumours and seemed so sure and it made me wonder if something had happened without me realising it.

It has appeared on YFF a few times already, always very confidently with seemingly nothing backing it up. Can't recall everywhere I've seen it mention, but has been mention on CL2 thread before.

As things stand though, I consider it just a rumour, but a weirdly persistent one.

It’s persistent because NZF (and CF?) wants to solve the huge cost of the Southern League by diluting it / absorbing some of the cost into the MCL! But with the centralised cost model it would be a ridiculous cost! *(for us)

I have heard from reputable sources that Nelson won’t be joining next year. But the medium term plan (3 years) is to look into the viability of a Central-Southern League that sits below National League.

I guess that would help with qualification to National League also, with there being just two teams to playoff and not three each year.

This sounds like fantasy

Maybe so, but the key words in my original message was “look into the viability”. Basically this would be the only way Nelson would be involved….. and even then unlikely.

There was definitely some momentum at the start of the season that it could happen. But I think commonsense prevailed.

not a good sign having 74 comments (only 69 likes) on a western suburbs half time post mostly asking for updates and talking about the bets they made and even saying people should quit football if they cant score.

Remind me of the trickle down clubs get from NZFs gambling revenue whilst having to endure this sht?

Yep, massive stakes! Napier should see it out from here regardless to be honest - FCW away in the last round.

Petone taken points off both Miramar and Olympic now... well done after a tough season.

Miramar defeat Napier in added time 2-3! It goes down to the final day between Napier, Miramar and Olympic all having a shot to take the title. Napier should still be favourites, however, since they play FC Western.

Miramar were well worth the 3 points IMO. Great to see it go down to the last day, but yes NCR should be good for 3 points away to Western next week.

What a turnaround!! Had a feeling they might win it today. Napier should still win it away to FCW surely.

A shame for Napier that they couldn't win the title at their home ground but it would be a huge shock if they didn't seal it next week against FC Western.

Just the one debut this week:

Island Bay

Also, welcome Taradale to Central League for 2027! Will be great to have some Hawkes Bay representation in Central League with Rovers going up to National League. The clubs sounds pretty ambitious about its plans going forward so exciting times for sure!

Let’s hope they last longer than their women did this year

Todays game against Miramar should be a good warmup for Wests with those National League 2027 playoffs looming - playing against a quality opponent who has heaps on the line. Kyle Carr aiming for the golden boot too. Will be surprised if they just roll over but do fancy Miramar to win esp if it filters through that Napier are struggling elsewhere.

Beyond that, do we fancy Wests in the playoffs? It's gonna be against Christchurch United and I heard Western Springs?

Playing this on the upper ground at Newtown Park is certainly interesting.

One way traffic so far tbh in favour of Miramar. Wests very deep in fact everyone back on some set pieces. Wests have rotated a bit it seems. No score yet but will be pretty shocked if Miramar don't win.

Well colour me shocked because Wests have played a lot better since and just took the lead late on!

Rode their luck at times but on track to beat MR home and away!

Edit: penalty equalizer it appears.... things seem to have heated up

Congratulations Napier City Rovers - Central League Champions for 2026. Thoroughly deserved winners.

Finished 6-0 in New Plymouth. Had to leave just before halftime with the little one throwing a wobbly after getting tired of the playground just across the pitch. Was only one team in it today though.

**Edit - Sofascore had it as 7-0 at F/T, but see it was actually 6-0 on socials.

Was at Olympic during the 2nd half and the announcer said at the end of his announcements "If we had beaten Petone last week we would've lost [the title] by 1 goal." Which is certainly a funny way to cap off your Central League campaign

Supporters on the bank had been mentioning before/during the match "if only we had beaten Petone last week" so it was an information comment (maybe with a hint of subtext). FYI the last time prior to this season that Olympic drew both league matches with Miramar was in 2013 ... when they lost the league by 1 goal !

I give out info on the microphone - good (appearance or goal milestones) or bad (red card info, games without goals) - mostly for the Olympic fans as I only have stats for Olympic players and often the wind limits those who can hear what I am saying.

In the earlier reserves match today I pointed out at one stage that Olympic Reserves hadn't scored for 200 minutes (to the surprise of the handful of fans) ... and then Olympic scored within a minute !

EDIT - I had been told NCR had won 7-0 but it was only 6-0 so if Olympic had won last week at Petone they would have won the title on goals scored !
