Just been informed that Nathan Strom is keen to go to Waikato - he has had a great winter season but has not been picked up by the two big boys of Auckland.  I have heard that he is talking with Fallon and is close to coming to an arrangement.  Since the team is full of aucklanders the team will practice in Aucland too - this has made Nathan make the decision about playing for the Hamilton/Auckland based club.

He will make a good partnership with G.P at the back

As a tried and true Waikato fan I must admit it is very sad to see that trainings will be in Auckland and that most of the players will come from Auckland.

What are the board doing and how can this be allowed to happen????

I agree Platinum, he is strong in the air - can shoot from long distance and a strong leader.  If they have got him Davendar Singh and Graham Pearce to choose from at the back they will be doing alright from themselves!!!

fallon loves his structure of the back four, so i dont think waikato will let many goals in this season. maybe this quality will reach a TITLE!

I like what I've seen of Strom, a solid, no sh*t centre back.
I've said it before, under Fallon waikato will be a tough proposition.

He is way to easy to wind up 2 or 3 red cards this year countless yellows for ruinning his mouth ??? when he played for Otago ( I think it was Otago ) he was sent off playing against Waitak some comment about his sister, If he has got that under control or bites harder on his mouth gaurd hell be right,But What a throw ,its like a corner accurate and powerful , Fallon Special , Best of luck to him it just means more NRFL players in the NZFC.

Nathan Strom is a reasonable player with a big throw and a good attitude, as for waikato whom knows. David Samson may have signed but he is about to have a further shoulder op and will be out for 8-10 weeks after that.....

Be an interesting side considering they are up to there third trial - must be some top players out there coming to them

I like Strom's exuberance... Against that, he was centreback the other week when Melville put six past Lynn Avon, which was a worry (unless you were a melville fan)

After the match, Strom did a turn on the microphone, which i will repeat here, as Feedback may recall the incident....

While he was on tour with NZ Schoolboys (abt 2001) the team attended a reception at Bangor in Northern Ireland. Strom recalled how an Irish female dignitary asked fellow team member Ross Mckenzie if he had any Irish roots.

"Not so far," he replied. "But I'm going to be working hard on it over the next few days."

What Strom did not tell the Melville clubrooms was that he was forced to stand down from two international fixtures on that tour after being caught by team management urinating in broad daylight while walking down a main street in Wales.....

From what I have read in the last two posts it seems like he'd be an ideal signing for Waikato!

He's also a quality player who has great distribution.  Strom at the back with Holloway up front (less i remind people that he is my favorite nzfc player) - those two alone provide the back bone of my favourite team!

You are right in saying Otago, I remember him well.
Amazing long throw solid at the back but as has being mentioned little throwaway comments got him booked and in some cases sent off.

He was the main reason that in the first season we were so dominant until christmas (3rd at the break).

Making him the first kiwi player to piss all over Wales?

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Strom is now in talks with Waitak - Millicich likes what Strom brings to the game and is trying to persuade him to go to the reigning champs!  Not a bad move for the young fella

He played well in the NRFL All Stars games. Including one against Waitakere, strangely enough..

Good luck to him.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I remember him when he played for Otago against Canterbury, and got completely fired up after a few digs from the sideline.  Glad he is back, and the NZFC for that matter!
