The grand final is now between Waitakere and Team Wellington.

This year's record reads:
 Waitakere 2 wins - 5-1 and 1-0
 Wellington 1 win - 2-1

So 7 goals and 6 points for Waitakere and 3 goals and 3 points for Team Wellington.

Who are you picking to win and why?

I am picking TW to win. They have momentum and their midfield will hurt Waitakere's midfield. The strikeforce and defence for Waitak are superior but this game will be won or lost in the midfield. A few goals in it.

3-2 to Team Wellington but that means TW will have to be prepared to attack to score and leave themselves open.

I think this has the making to be a great final.  TW are the underdogs but are running high on the great result against the Aucks. Waitak have had the break which can be a good or a bad thing.
Game will go to extra time,  heaps of goals and TW will come out victorious 4-3

TW because they have the good sense to play (most of) their home games in the mighty Wellington suburb of Newtown.

TW 2-1, momentum is on their side, and they've played like they want it more.

Queenslander 3x a year.

I think that Auckland City will win.

Their lawyers are probably preparing a case right now that says ACFC have "squatters rights" over the NZFC title and that Waitakere and Wellington are both "Aussie clubs" anyway.

from this mornings radio interview with Piney, he seemed to be a doubtful starter but (obviously) keen to play some part

Stu said on ZB tonight that he wouldn't start, but would feature at some stage.

Does Corrales always dive that much.
TW aren't getting shots on goal this half. I reckon their formation is wrong.

coralles gets his body right and players end up giving him a bit of a tap,  - he is quick

Pearce perhaps a little hard done by for his card - I can live with that

Commentators seem a bit biased to me - they seemed surprised that the stats show it's pretty even after they'd been rabbiting on about Waitak

I'd like to see us stop their back four from delivering the ball through into midfield as quickly as they are.

Glad we've thumped it in the air a bit less in the last 25 mins.

Still anyone's trophy. Bookings might tell with 3 Waitax already on a yellow (goodbye Bale and/or Pearce ).

CMON TEAM WELLY - have heard our lads a bit

Krishna, Bazeley,Pearce, Koprovic,Sykes, Hat, Butler , too strong fot TW. Halstead was the only one with much penetration.

Had to laugh when Emblen said "The fans have been great all year" despite the fact they don't even know what the word noise means.

Three for me, and two for them.

Yep, Team Welly came and went a bit  - great period first 20 mins after halftime but waitak soaked it up - if G's shot had gone in at about 63 rd min it might have been a bit different

we looked a bit lost in last 10 corrales, G and raf were all stuffed (i thought Raf might have got a bit more protection from the ref)

but fair dos to Waitak - you did seem stronger

I could certainly hear the Welly boys chanting over the TV. Well done! Dunno what soe of those lyrics were though..."we've got the wind, the rain and mumble mumble mumble..."
You have to feel sorry for any defender who scored og, that was done in a flash!

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

ha yeah i think half were singingthe TW song and the other half Phoenixand the rest (if there were any halves left) were just plain hammered.  Bl**dy great day. We all had a laugh despite the result. Sung out hearts out (Waitak had NOTHING) and generally caused trouble. Highlight was JCS of the PHC lining up (despite wearing a 30yrd suit and american indian headress) and getting a medal off Frank VH. Hysterical.

"No-ones ever done the treble before, but its firmly in our sights."

Erm....

2006 Minor Premiers - Auckland City
2006 NZFC Champions - Auckland City
2006 OFC Club Champs - Auckland City

Three for me, and two for them.

NZFC Treble = Youth League Champion, NZFC Premiership, NZFC Championship. OCL isn't part of the NZFC so it doesn't count as part of the NZFC treble...though I know if I had to choose between 2008 Waitakere's position and 2006 City's position, I'd pick the latter.

I believe we won the Youth League that year too. Quadruple like?

To be fair Auckland City have never won the O-League they have won OFC Club Champs which was a one off tournament in Auckland. All sides were allowed to bring in recruits to play in the tournament. The O-league has only been won by Waitakere United as this is the second year of the O-league.

Technically he is correct no one has won the Treble of NZFC League, Grand Final and O-League. Might be symantics but he is right.

Hardy a great thing that no one has ever done the treble if it is only in its 2nd year of existence...

And Liverpool have only won the Champions League once. Same sh*t different bucket mate.

I agree with you. Auckland have won the treble, just because the competition was called something different it was still essentially the same thing.
