Well, strangely enough, my late father was from Glasgow and he took great exception to be calling a "Pom", or "English so and so", so yes, seeing as you're raising that one, I would say that's unacceptable.
His reaction to that used to be extremely colourful, too, by the way, as an ex British serviceman, boxer and proud Scot.
So yes, that is also to do with his heritage.
A) He wasn't a "Pom"
B) He wasn't English, either.
C) He got wound up about it.
D) Someone got dealt to.
I've seen more than a few dust ups like that in my time, so yeah, don't underestimate the depth of feeling on that one, mate.
On the flip side of that coin, Anti-English racism in Scotland became a hot topic in the media and, in some parts of Scotland, it is a big issue.
You might like to think that in New Zealand the lines have faded somewhat on the distinction, but for a great many other people who make, or have made, this country their home, their culture and their heritage from their previous country is still hugely important to them.

I know the Scots have had a long turbulent history with 'big brother' England and as someone with Scottish roots I've heard a lot of anti-English stuff. But personally I think it's a lot about inferiority complex, like NZers often have towards 'big brother' Oz. I seldom hear English rubbish the Scots or Scotland, unless it's about football or the weather, but I've heard far too much anti-English nonsense from Scots, who can't seem to let it go. They live in London (or NZ) and still bang on about the English. There seems no-one better at hoarding old griefs than the Scots (and the Irish). I remember going up to Sterling in the 90s to see relatives and in the end telling them to just shut up about it and being relieved getting back to London.

According to Kris Shannon in the Herald the O League final is going to be at Mt Smart (I guess number 2) which is good. A really neutral venue with a decent stand. You can put away the gumboots. Should be a cracking game, deserves a big crowd.

Dont they play Auckland Rugby League games there in various comps
So guessing there are some sort of facilities there for the players??
Fred Taylor Paddock is a dump with no spectator facilities at all but was never gonna be played there as a neutral venue was always going to be used

There used to be reasonable dressing sheds on the eastern side, don't know if they're still there. There were sheds up on the number 1 that are a short walk to the 2 ground. Remember the Warriors used to enter Mt Smart via the tunnel from 2. Not unusual around the world to have a reasonable stroll from sheds to ground either.
