being a former administrator i cant believe what these muppets are doing to otago football...they seem to think by always coming up with the same excuses ie "we find it hard to attract players down here" to New Zealand soccer that they are magically going to help them out...i don't know what can be done but is there any chance other voices in otago football ie Bill Chisholm can get rid of these guys?
I also want to know why malcom fleming is coaching otago united, isn't there much better coaches in otago club football.. S Fleming, M Fridge, M Mcgarry, T. Boylan just to name a few...just to name a few...didn't Malcom's club team finish 6th in the premier league?

Will be interesting Horsie, will depend whos pull the pin by then haha a few of the lads are 50/50 about playing...
Maybe this is the year Tim Horner reinvents himself as a deep laying defensive midfielder in a 3-5-2 formation, then maybe chuck Dave Shaw & Jenkinson as the centrebacks with Henderson sweeping? Have Prattley as left wing back Tom Connor on the right, Deeley & Dey in the middle?
Dugdale & ?????? upfront, maybe someone from Northern

Ryan atherton upfront? Who in goal???? Northerners keeper Ike Malpass used to be fairly handy. May have to fly back lutz..... or what about warren arburn??? haha.Dunno who northern would have who would bolster the front line, shemus grey??? Tom Jackson not available? What about this george milne character? From what I hear he has a bit of an engine on him. There is no doubt that if otago were able to utilise all the playing resources avaiable to them they could have a reasonable side. Horner as a defensive midfielder... yeah why not, he is wasted at right back

Cavy Import James Waggett is the keeper
Jackson is in the states
Noth sure what Atherton is up to, probably not that interested
George Milne isn't around this summer
Maybe Dalman might have to make the move form physio to striker?
Yeah you're right about utilising the playing resources but because its such a shambles year in year out players have lost interest

it's a bit of a shame because the year otago came fith they played some quality football and were great to watch, it just seems that forward steps have not been made and the board is just happy to have a team in the league. Sadly this is the case throughout representative football, otago are always the whipping boys beginning at junior representative level.
It is odd when you consider that the top couple of teams in dunedin year in and year out can easily compete with the best the rest of the country has to offer

Seamus gray has gone to england to go to university. True if otago had a few names from last year and this year would be an intersting team.

Scoullar at left back hmmm...would rather see him up front, that's his preferred position and from the S.I final performance should have been there all year...was covered easily at the back.
Its going to be one interesting year for Otago United. About 4-5 certain strong players that deserve their place.
Good on the Tech boys for not getting involved in the debarkle.
Can someone please give a starting lineup they believe will take on Auckland FC?

I have witnessed 3 pages of nothing but bagging over the last couple of days - my god is it getting tired.
Dunbar you speak as if you were some player when you were down there - my memory isn't that short.
All I can say is good on the Caversham players who have put up their hands. It's obviously not going to be easy and no doubt another real struggle but at least with a Caversham back bone they may be able to minimise the damage.
Fair enough if Coburn doesn't play he has been a great servant and his put in his shift - give the man a deserved break. If there are any Tech players (a part from Prattley) left worthy of playing then I say put your boots on - do it for Otago and the preservation of football down there.

You are probably speaking some thruth Kennedy, I'm not professing to be any good, just a bit of banter. As much as Ive put the boot in I often enjoy watching otago united, its just a shame with what has unfolded in the press. I do hope they can get back on their feet, just sounds like its going to be a real struggle.

Not sure many Tech players are around Kennedy

Most of the bagging is justified. Otago has a stong enough player base to form the nucelus of a competitive side, and despite what Dave Lamont says it has been done before. Dunedin City, Team Otago, f**k even when we had 2 National league sides they were more competive.
I'm sick of the bullsh*t coming out of Otago Utd.
A pity the ODT didn't ask Dave the key questions
Why was Malcy appointed so late? Do Otago Utd have Phelan's email address or phone number?
Was the delay because Phelan is still under contract, and is this the same contract he signed after losing a record 20 games in a row?
How much is Phelan being paid to coach the Youth team?

Kennedys right, and also the fans dont want to watch a 2nd string Utd play every week, it wouldn't be fair on them both
The board and coach are a joke we all know that but we dont want to see the results on the park follow suit. The better players in the region who are yet to to train should get down there and help the boys out. Not for Malc or Lamont but for the name of Otago Utd.

Just following on from Yeovil, thing i don't really get with the Phelo situation is, he has one year left on his current contract & hes declined to be the head coach, so why is he still there?
Obviously they can't sack him as he'll be on a bit of moolah, so why don't the board tell him to either coach the f*#king team or resign?
Lamont was rambling on about how they have limited funds, so why go & sign up another coach when Phelo is under contract, just more wasted money

[QUOTE=Yeahright]Good question what does Johan do? Produces stats and bluffing paperwork with very little substance. Oh yes he's used the region to ensure he has done every course available - at the expense of the region!
Encouraging to hear when he is supposed to be moving to Wellington to fill the seat left vacant when Bev Priestman moved to Auckland (same job in Welly to the one he has in Otago).
Lucky us.
Word on the street is Johan's job has been 'dis-established' and is indeed off to Wellington.
One of his last sessions will be to take the Footballsouth Women's Nat League training on Sunday. Ironically he could be coaching the Capital team in a few weeks.
I personally did my coaching quals under Steve Fleming and haven't got round to renewing them so haven't had many direct dealings with him. He does send out plenty of information and is far and away the most organised inthe Footballsouth office.
The guys I spoke to who played under him in the National league spoke highly of him.
