I'm not saying McGarry wouldn't be better - but Murray has been good value for what he was given to work with, and as a young up and coming local coach he deserves another crack next year IMO to see if he can improve Otago to be real top 4 contenders. He had no money and yet at the start of the season they looked as if they could be top 4 contenders, but with the loss of the point gained against TW and then key players it was always going to be very hard. He seems to have the respect of the players and has several young lads coming through. The experience they gained this year will prove invaluable IF they stay. He would get my vote I think, but I will be watching his coaching decisions and results over the next few weeks to see how he does, because there's nothing like a few end of season games with little to play for to show a coach's true value. Can they get a win or go close against TW in the WRC? Can they give Auckland City a real scare at home?   And can they beat Waikato away in April? These are the things that will show how good he is IMO.NatPevin2012-02-22 18:49:39

It seems likely. What are the thoughts on these refs?

The boys are looking good at pre season so far, I think it might be the away trip to the mighty bright lights of Timaru for weekend game's against two Canty teams has put the spring in there steps.

Please tell me Langley out of retirement is a joke!! I guess his refereeing will make up the points Cavy will drop with the loss of Overton and Wild etc. I'm still convinced he's the biological father of one of the Cavy players

Don't Langleys sons both play over the hill at Mosgiel? Probably a few decisions going their way rather than cavvys.

On another note, Overheard someone saying that the Southern League kicks off before NZFC has finished? What does this mean for the players. Im assuming they wont be eligible to play for their clubs unless released by United?

As would most of the top four. Cant imagine cavvy would be too pleased having already lost half the team from last season they would be without a few key players and the coaches.

off the top of my head, Cavvy would miss Hancock, Ryder & Rodeka, Horner would coach or even play i'd say, Duncan & Murray coaching from the sidelines?

Joy, Prattley, Lockhart & Myers out for tech

Watson, Cunningham, Mepham, Govan? & Evans for Roslyn

Day, Coldicott & Brook for Mosgiel

Probably missed a few but could be tough start for these teams

Speaking of top 10 players. About 5 of top 10 are from Mosgiel if I had to name them. Dunedin's power club this year!

Since Little is back at Caversham, can get rid of Evans

Team Wellington scored more goals. HT down 4 zip. Three pens in the game 2 to TW and one for Otago, all scored from.

I for one want to know why was Super Morgan not in the team for today, that is why OU lost. With my Super Morgie you would have won that game and now be in the final, but no your not, I say release him now so he can come back to the mighty Plainsmen where he belongs. God Bless Super Morgan Day

just spoke to Morgan, word got back to Richard that he'd been training with the Mos, this is what Rich had to say

I know that its been a long hard season, and for some its has been several seasons on the gallop. Yet I know that many players are already looking forward to those winter battles... Good on you, just remember to keep enough energy in the bank for our final ASB matches, thanks.
