Jack will get some good gametime this year with Joel being in U20's!

Donnie will be a solid Green Island 2nds starter.

Billy was in the Saloon today, having a glass of whisky. Heard some news of an attempt of Northern to sign up a experienced center mid from outside Dunedin. Seems as though money is the focal point in this saga

Jesse Wright for a leadership role? Gunn, Dungey, Stevens, Robinson and Gannon would all be higher up the list surely? Not even sure where he would fit in the starting side as it looks like a strong side we have. Not sure Little will join as Cavvy won't let him go easy

Going by the squad above, this is how i would line up on day 1:

GK: Matt McKay (doubt Liam will join)

RB: Mat Mitchell

LB: Nathan Gunn

CB: Liam Dungey

CB: Cam McPhail

DM: Cody Robinson

CM: Dan Rutter

CM: Scott Gannon (if he stays)

RW: Taylor McCormick

ST: Joel Stevens

LW: Jack Kirkwood

Bench: GK, Smith, Jackson, McIntee & Wright

Like alot of teams we've got a good 11 if everyone is fit but may struggle if injuries and suspensions occur.

As much as I would like GI to do well, I think the backs and central midfield are not quite up to the quality required to place in the top 3. The saying "good club men" might be appropriate.

Scott does provide a difference and also a focal point to move the ball. The balance are grafters, hard men and will harry but to turn this into a chamopinship winning team requires an improvement in quality.

GI could be top 3 this season, the standard of the league will be very poor this season

Yeah I have heard things that would back that up but can't confirm sorry. Lets be honest, the people at FootballSouth do bugger all. They'd have a hard time organising a piss up in a brewery. The draw prob won't be out until a 10 days out from the season leaving clubs rushing to organise transport to Invercargill & Queenstown or those two teams to Dunedin.

If Pete is watching this then heres a start so get working!!!!!

Round 1:

Northern v Mosgiel

Caversham v Old Boys'

Queenstown v Roslyn

Green Island v Tech

Braes v University

Round 2:

Old Boys' v Northern

Mosgiel v Caversham

Roslyn v Braes

Tech v Queenstown

University v Green island

have to agree, some decent players have left or will be leaving soon or have a broken leg. the bulk of most squads from last season will be similar, throw in Old Boys & it doesn't look too flash does it

If you look back at the players that were playing in the league 3-7 years ago to now there just doesnt seem to be the same quality of players or am i wrong?

Coburn,Scoullar,Flawsbrothers,Boylan,Brand,Chisom,Parkin,Mckenzie,Jasper,Deeley,Croydon/chris Wheeler,Henderson,Jaffa,Mccullum,Wild,Bradley Scott,Eisenhut,Falvey,Jarvis, dale, atherton,Overton as well as the imports Tech and Cavvy use to get

It would be nice to see the lads play in the weekend and finish another difficult season with a win - but Hamilton is a bit far from the land of roos and snakes.  I do have some good Roslyn gos over the next day or so though!

But let's see what you have too say Nat..

so what dribble has Benjudah been feeding you then?

Surely T.McCormick gets a run up top for the first team this week? Youth with a bye and the first team needing something new up front. very little to play for so give the guys who could form part of the future a go at the higher level. Thoughts?

I have my own theories about who Nat Pevin is.  But IMO it's not me.  And I am a Dr but I'm not Dr Freeking Who with a blue time machine.  I read through Pevin's posts and he was places I couldn't have been - even my little fella will tell you that.  Although he did think it was me for a while.

Finally something sensible from you GREEN ONION.

Taylor would be a nice addition, but not gonna happen, no point. Plus I think he might be carrying a niggle from Manawatu.

Peh...big names in your own underpants.  NatPevin has been finding it tough adjusting to a new lifestyle in this weird land - but he's committed to this forum and even though he's been absent a bit - he's been watching and listening.  Truth is the mighty Horse has dosh to spend this year on PLAY-ERS...we have 125 years of outstanding excellence and with the imminent decay of Caversham and the deluded-ness of Tech, the mighty Horse will win the FSPL in 2013 - we are buying two great players in so look out!  I, yes I I have to admit, am worried about the Greeny challenge - they have momentum and a coach with an ear-ring.  But all things being equal (whatever that means), we will come out on top.  Neigh Whinney Whinney.

A few weeks quiet Natpevin and your chat has gone out the window :/

As much as I hate the G.I chat on this page, I definitely think we G.I will do very well this season.

Have a good night peeps.

Talk it up we all know that Roslyn has no money to splash round, the first thing they should do is get hot water for the shity showers they have. Bloody disgrace them

Showers?  You are talking about showers?  We have the best showers ever - and I was made a man in those showers so STFU.  We have so much $$$ now and showers to die for.  You just watch.
