Great win by Caversham yesterday..sounds like they tore Dunedin Technical apart. Someone informed me that Tim Horner has put his hand up for the Southern United job. Can someone please confirm this?

Referee Extraordinaire does not support any teams!! I just love good clean fair football, not a fan of fellas who persistently infringe the laws of the game.

Anyone else thinking this whole Tom Jackson thing is a little dodgy after seeing who the referee involved is?

He shouldn't be aloud to ref a midgets game. Also, is it a independent panel if football South has Bill and the tubby lady from FS on it?Forget her name sorry. Didn't Wilson James come around to all the clubs before the season to talk about the referees building a relationship with the clubs.. He has well and truly f$&@d that I would say. Has the ref had any games since? A disgrace.

Bill and Tracy aren't on the panel. The panel consists of Ron Paterson, Richard Smith and one other.

For what reason where they there?

Don't abuse or touch a ref.

No matter who's on the panel offender deserves a long time to cool down.

If he assaulted a ref why hasn't it been reported to the police?

Seems to me that if there was an "assault" then everyone on the pitch would have seen what happened and Tom wouldnt have had a chance to make the changing rooms before the red was delivered. He may have shouldered him and for that he may deserve a couple of weeks but 6 months is rediculous. Classic case of FootballSouth trying to make out that they actually do something for the game down here.

Must of been a pretty serious assault if he walked the width of the pitch without the ref turning his body to issue a red card. Must of been to scared.

This Tom Jackson debate is simple, did he shoulder the ref.......YES, end of conversation. Every sane person knows that you don't touch an official. The word assault is being taken out of context but he is guilty of shoulder barging the ref and deserves to suffer the consequences.
We don't have enough refs in the game as it is and if players are allowed to get away with this type of abuse then we would have none. Fully support FootballSouth decision. 6 months seems a long time but if that was the minimum penalty set down for this type of offense by NZ football then its a open and shut case really.

Did he shoulder him? Think that's what is in the refs report but not toms explanation. The player has always said he never droped his shoulder. He apologised for accidentally bumping into him during the handshake.

It took a few days for people to work out wether he had been red carded or not....if he'd done something major like "assault" the referee then I'm pretty sure there wouldnt have been any debate over if he was red carded or suspended. Of the two parties involved, I know whos tale of events I trust the most. Unfortunately for Tom its guilty until proven innocent.

Fully agree with XFactor. The fact that it is very difficult to 'accidentally' bump into someone during a handshake, I don't think it was a hard decision for FS. Unfortunately 30 seconds in the heat of the moment has cost him his season.

And for some to say that FS are ruining the game?! Having no referees will ruin the game a great deal more

FS doing the correct thing.

Shows to the next idiot what they will get as a stand down at the very least when you touch a ref in an aggressive manner.

Shake hands or a friendly pat on the back when stating Thanks ref i've no problem with.

From what I've read and heard no one has any issue with a lengthy ban for assaulting an official. What is pertinent in this instance and where the confusion seems to lie is that there are different versions of the incident i.e. Assault vs unintentional contact.

In any case. Probably no point discussing this weekends chatham cup round given they're all easy picks. Shame no Cavvy this year although nice another club gets to win the Peacock Trophy.

Need Euan to play beside Mike Smith as Rhys is our answer to striker problems , this might have most strikers licking their lips at the chance to run at these 2 , but as Caversham always do we will back our speed on the counter
