This is turning into a thumping.

Yellow... for time wasting /excessive celebrating/ shirt off ??...

The scoreline looks bad now, but that shouldn't detract from an excellent season for Team Wellington and outstanding work from Matt Calcott in his first year with the team.

Calcott should be retained...let him continue to build this young team. He will be gutted but ultimately Waitakere's experience on the big stage won through. Well done TW lads don't be down.

  This sucks.  Poor Wellington.  I swear if I ever win a truck load of money from lotto I'm going to help Team Wellington!  Oh well least we beat Auckland City.  Next year, next year.

I wonder if Ricki and Greenie saw any players they wanted?

Anyone at the game? What individuals stood out? Any realistic A-League potential?

I was there and Wellingtpon certainly had more of the ball in the first half and played all the football but most of it wasn't in areas that caused Waitak too many problems. "The turning moment" as it's been called of Bale hauling back Lucas was a foul, and possibly a red card, as Bale put his hand on Lucas' shoulder, but it's hard to blame the ref as the assistant was right up in line with it - the ref looked straight to him and he kept his flag down - so blame him. Finished watching the highlights, although Imray made some good saves, he also let a couple of soft goals in.

Pretty tired of the same sides winning the title all the time but guess we can only improve. 

Sounds like Luke Rowe is heading back to the UK (twitter sauce) guess we won't be seeing him in the other Wellington stripey.

More to the point, probably won't see him in the Oly squad which is absurd.

Good point.  Mind you if they want to save on airfares they should just pick him since he'll already be in England.

Or save on goals conceded and just pick him. There's a lot of people out there who think he's getting a raw deal. I get the feeling Emblen is selecting the players he knows more about to be safe.

Saw the highlights, Stingray will probably be kicking himself for letting in some very soft goals.

Has been in great form this season, must be personally very disappointing for him to sign off on that note.

Forgive me if I'm wrong (again) but he's a pommy kid right with kiwi parentage? Stuff him let him go back home. Give his spot to a real kiwi boy who's done the hard yards here. Name someone borderline like Prattley or Milne IMO.

Yeah I believe that too - but not by that much. And so it does beg the question for me. Pick home grown or some Johnny come lately mercenary?

Maybe..but this is what stuff says:

So his formative football years were in the UK where he was born.

I just think our local lads work so hard to even get a sniff...this kid is a fine player and will do well back in the UK regardless of being picked in the Oly squad. Will it make a big difference to our performance in London if he is/isn't selected? Answer = No IMO. So pick a local lad..give him a chance to get seen on the big stage...my goodness they are even talking about Myers being borderline!

You are confused about who did their youth football in NZ. Musa didn't, Mulligan did, Reid didn't, Smith did. Need I go on?

Smith was gone by the time he was 14-15.

I had the good fortune to see Tommy play many times; saw him play for WBHS last in 2006 as a 16 yr old and maybe he played in 2007 but I don't know for sure; he signed for Ipswich in 2007 I recall that. So I consider his formative youth years (he was here from when he was 8) were in NZ.

Musa? He was a late arriver wasn't he? Like came here when he was 12 or 13? I'm not wanted to pick a fight here by the way! I just think the local lads should be picked ahead of imports. If Musa has been here for 5 or 6 years he has some creds then - and I am sorry if I am wrong about him. But Milne, Myers, Prattley and Smith have all done local club/rep football for a good stretch.
