TW play all its home matches at Newtown Park, except on Feb 2nd when we play at Porirua

a couple of good reasons to go this Sunday
- food and beverage prices compare extremely favourably with the RoF prices

 - free parking

 - last game against Waitak, TW had no answer to Waitak's  height advantage; have TW worked out a game plan to counter the threat?

..... but no atmosphere of a football crowd

No atmosphere??? You obviously weren't at the Auckland City game. We raised the roof.

excellent to hear! It's not quite the same if the ref's abilities can't be vocally challenged

Cheers Robb.  I'd missed that bit of news.  Athletics on at Newtown I guess.

That cant be the case   That would be against the NZFC rules that you must have first rights of use of the ground where you play your games, the same rules that also state that you must have lights

If that was the case most teams in league would be in breach of rules!!!
Waikato play in Tauranga when Hamilton is used for Thugby
both Auckland and Wai#!@are are playin at different grounds this season and Otago have played at 3 different grounds in Dunedin in last few years

Do you know what nemesis means

Could just be to expand their fanbase- the same official reason Waikato give regarding moving matches to Tauranga, though as happyted pointed out surely the rugby contributes to that as well.

Not sure if there'd be many people training down from Porirua to watch TW, rather saving their time and money for the Phoenix. If they do, good on them though

No. Absolutely not. Who benefits from that? The Nix will have to give up part of their gate receipts, so it doesn't help the Nix. And I can't see how it benefits Team Welly either.

As for the fans, I'm a Phoenix season ticket holder and I'm a Team Wellington season ticket holder. I like having separate days for each fixture. I don't want them mixed.

Yeah, I asked the Team Welly players at the away match in Palmy if they knew why that was. The response was, "are we, why is that?" Though one, forget which - probably Allan - thought that the fixture was a late one to be arranged and by the time it was Newtown Park was booked.

I just found out that the Summer League fixtures that day are going to be played on the Sunday, so I can go to the Porirua home game after all  I thought I was going to have to miss it.

The season ticket says "Porirua Park"

Street Address: Mungavin Avenue
Place: Porirua

The park offers a 1900-seat covered grandstand with media box, 4 senior playing fields, 1 softball diamond, changing rooms, public toilets, and television-standard night-lighting. The number 1 field reaches the highest standard available for top-level competition play.

Porirua Park's good. Did a few Wests games there.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Used to be f**king freezing there when Wests played Capital Prem games on a Friday night... nice spot for afternoon football though.

The federations should be doing more to promote the games but would be difficult in Wgtn with the Nix taking most of the column inches.  As far as cost is concerned, there is so much waste in Cap Fed its unbelievable - what do all those coaches do all day?.

Another problem has been the football.  I stopped going a while ago believing that they were going nowhere until Waite went somewhere.  I am surprised at how far, how quickly, the TW results have improved.

Robb, where do you think Porirua is mate? Its hardly much of a trip to Wellington.

HN, its a lovely park to watch friday night footy, the bars usually open.

It's what, half an hour each way on the train? Then adding in transport from the railway station to Newtown, factoring in how useless Wellington's bus system is? It's much less accessible than Westpac.

Or you could drive, but with todays petrol prices, it might be a more attractive option to save gas on only going to Phoenix matches.

Of course, I'm just speculating. I live in Kelburn so I just walk to both places

Robb, we are not all poor students. Most people drive to TW games.
TW are training Ole this week, how do you think the players get there?

Don't they run there?
