Better a team of young players going somewhere rather than old hacks going nowhere.  I just hope they are competitive.

100% agree - The issue is they owe all the old hacks money as well as the previous coaches. So they have been forced down this route

They would not be in this mess if they had of used that model in the first place ............

Perhaps a low budget / backs to the wall situation might be a better option. Can't see them returning to their glory days until the management of the franchise is changed ?

Personally not a big fan of Waitak,  however in my opinion with the right relationships (Western Springs)  they could cobble together a competitive mid-table team.  Northern league football is entering a new generation and Auckland city is a semi-closed shop so why not put yourself in the window with Waitak or ES?

Any squad lists for either Waitakere or Eastern Suburbs?. I’m guessing two completely new teams from last year.

Honestly like the look of the Springs squad in terms of developing for the future, throw guys like Charles Mani, Seb Stephan, Garriga etc. into the Waitak squad with Connor-McLean, Jorgensen, Porter et al and i'd be hopeful

What should have happened here is that a club like Western Springs should have got the licence from Waitakere. Well structured club with youth there and plenty always coming through.

But that would be too hard basket for NZF - easier to turn a blind eye

According to the draw, WU don't even have a home ground yet

Great to see we still exist!

Imagine how good it would be heading into the new season if we had a home ground, coach and players too...ah well, can't expect to have everything i guess.

Bring back Rex Dawkins. Money, vision and commitment... the good old days.

Permalink Permalink

Yeah - people have forgotten a lot of what Rex did for football within this country.

Grumpy old bastard alert

Permalink Permalink

Rex was involved in bringing in 2 of the best imports to the Nat League - Kerryn Jordan and Roy Krishna- both played for Waitak before going to Auckland City , etc. Waitak have gone backwards every year since he pulled the pin.

Seddon Fields is the plan, believe the TBC is about getting everyone to agree the turf is suitable.

Can anyone list a team squad for Waitakere now they have a coach.

Seddon Fields is the plan, believe the TBC is about getting everyone to agree the turf is suitable.

Interesting - they are going to be training at Michaels Ave for the next couple of weeks (at least some of their trainings) because some fields at Seddon need to be resowed, so sounds like they were going to train on the grass at Seddon?

Hmm. Maybe the NYL team gets first dibs on the turf?

Hmm. Was told Seddon with McLennan as the backup plan.

Makes sense, that's why the Gaelic sports had to be chased off the grass. (We're doing fine at Massey, the Council finally put our goalposts up by the second week of the season, lol)

Although moving to WSAFC means the old adage "westies start at Avondale" has to be replaced by "westies start at the zoo"

more than half the first-team squad is born in 2000 or later

There are a handful of players between 2000/2002.

Mostly players are around the 1999 and a bit older.

all their games are supposedly to be played there

time was NZF(A) would kick teams out of the National League for not having an enclosed ground - obviously not a worry anymore!!!!
