A kiwi song that we all know. A slow song that is go to sing while the players gets on the pitch. Full of passion and gets the heart going. Three simple verses and a great chorus. Not that hard for non-football fans to get into it as it is well known for many.

Crowded House Dont Dream Its Over Lyrics

Songwriters: Finn, Neil

There is freedom within, there is freedom without
Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup
There's a battle ahead, many battles are lost
But you'll never see the end of the road
While you're travelling with me

Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won't win

Now I'm towing my car, there's a hole in the roof
My possessions are causing me suspicion but there's no proof
In the paper today tales of war and of waste
But you turn right over to the T.V. page

Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won't win

Now I'm walking again to the beat of a drum
And I'm counting the steps to the door of your heart
Only shadows ahead barely clearing the roof
Get to know the feeling of liberation and release

Hey now, hey now
Don't dream it's over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won't win

Don't let them win

(Hey now, hey now)

(Hey now, hey now)

What do you think???

I think that it is on par with "You can never walk alone"AllWhitebelievr2010-03-15 22:44:05

I like the lyrics, but Crowded House songs in general, and this one in particular, have very difficult meters... they are hard to get right, which is a bad thing for a football song... they have to have simple melody and rythym of you are going to get everyone to sing them together...

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

The song lyrics needs to be on the stadium screen before every home match, have the music for the song to played and it wouldn't take long to get it going. At Perennial strugglers Liverpool, they play the music (without the words) and everyone gets involved even the rival fans.

Just need to have the Neil Finn's permission and coordinate it with the stadium and club officials.

It would be great if the Neil Finn and the Phoenix Squad sing a single to promote. A song version without the extra instrumental stuff and I think it will take off.AllWhitebelievr2010-03-16 23:45:43

Or you could just start singing it...

We'll just have to start singing it when the Nix take the field in their first preseason game at Rhodes Park in Thames.

Oi . . . lyrics on the screen and making club anthem has been done before with good marketing success and interest to the respective clubs. The crowd support has increased. What is wrong with that???

There is so much wrong with a manufactured load of sh*te like this.

Three for me, and two for them.

Phew, your average Australian bogan would argue that, but on their behalf, I won't do that today, got too much on...
