Let's not have it at all...I only remember the opposition attacking or, at worst, scoring when that chart pipes up.

Can't remember hearing it on friday to be honest.

Someone tried to start it.  Didn't catch on.

Santy decides when it is done.  End of.

yay for elitest yellow fever attitudes. Everyone should just sit quietly and wait for one of the 'top' yellowfever people to start chants, and even then one should only join in if they know the exact tune to which it should be done (see stand up for phoenix angst).

has nothing to do with elitism.  All to do with traditional.  Much like LF1's table update.

Thats a forum tradition. Anyone who doesnt regularly visit this forum wouldnt know what you were on about if you stopped then doing a disco chant and told them "only santy can do that,so stop". Theyd think o yay elitist pricks telling me what to do...ill go sit at halfway

i did open this thread expecting it to be a joke, but radioman seemed kind of serious, your replies im sure are joking about..though not so sure about you 2ndbest.

Is just something that bugs me,anyone can support the side and start chants if they wish, and should be encouraged, not bagged. If you hear someoen start a chant and its not so good, encourage them by joining in properly.

Meh,laugh at me if you wish.

i love people supporting the team, but i was serious about the thread. anyone can and should start up a chant, such as oh wellington. however the disco chant has(in the past)only been used once a game to enphise the point and by santy. we all(by we all i mean the majority of the fever section know this and wait for it)
the fact that i herd it started 2x and other people cant remember hearing it should be enough for those who did start it to know that they shouldnt again.

I think everyone should have their designated chant. And there should be a strict timetable on when each chant gets done. Fail to abide by this and feel the wrath.

I agree but may I add....

  •  A timetable should also be allocated by a "Wheel of Chores" such as found in every organised student flat only because a girl got sick of the dishes not being done.
  •  Also you need to put your hand up and wait for a Yellow Fever Member with a rank of Backroom Staff or higher to indicate you may proceed.

God help football when the Chant Police come knockin!

I think it's a quaint YF tradition that it's a "Santy Only" chant, and we should encourage that tradition.

I also think you can't expect everyone to know about it, so maybe just find a way to explain it to them, or just let it roll.

Hardly the biggest deal of the weekend, and not worth it's own thread imho.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I was all the way with you, Tegal, until your bit about 'Stand Uuuuup for the Phoe-e-nix'.....(honestly, it's not hard, give it a go)HarryHotspur2009-09-07 11:45:09

My point with that was not everyone knows the exact tune (not everyone visits these forums),so to say they shouldnt join in just because of that is a bit silly,if a majority sing it in a different tune to the youtube vid (is that where its from?) then who cares.

But yeah that was a digrerssion and probably a bad example as it did take away from my point against radiomans original post.

Glad to see hes not the majority view, because that would suck.

Next time I'm down, I promise not to start a "Ricki Herbert's Yellow Army" and I apologise profusely for the fact I have done so in the past.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

What happens for games that Santy can't attend for whatever reason? Do we have an official delegate and can we be notified beforehand?

I'd hate to be 3-0 against Melbourne at the Etitard next week and try and start up a D.I.S.C.O chant only to have my wrist slapped, feel embarrased, and never want to turn up at a game again!

I'm slightly disappointed!

It was tried once on friday - and by the time it got to Ailse 23 it was already out of whack.  Everyone got up - looked like it went to the Family Zone, but not pleasing on the ear.

I think I heard Phoenix till I die just once as well (and it sounded like it was dying), was waiting for it to be repeated to join in avec gusto...

Anyway, by round 20+ we should be getting there!

Thats what i thought Buffon, but appartently radioman was serious.

My opinion, its fine that its a Yellow fever tradition, anyone on here wouldnt go about starting a DISCO chant as its santys little baby . However to get genuinely angry at others for starting the same chant is just stupid and will led to them thinking YF are just being elitest pricks with the "only 'top YF people' may chant" attitude"

Just think of it from an outsider who is in the feverzone supporting the teams point of view. If they start a chant, any chant, and get shot down for it,then theyre going to think we're pricks and not join in anything and the atmosphere will be worse for it. If someone is doing a rubbish job of a chant, encourage them by joining in loudly and making it better...

Haha well yes. To an outsider though i believe i said.

Cmon, your not seriously going to encourage slagging off anyone trying to start a chant? If you didnt visit this forum and started DISCO,and someone tried to tell you to "shutup thats santys chant" you'd be confused and annoyed, and think the guy was a prick would you not

Its a cool tradition, for those who know about it. For those who dont, who cares let them make some noise, and join in.

In-crowd chanting is always funny, start up somethig like "we cant understand you!" over the top of them...

But yeah i think everyone on here would prefer santy, but to get genuinely angry and start up a thread of angst just because some others gave it a go is stupid.

It was the Eejit's fault. He got me drunk. Again.

the feverzone is not for joe blogs, it is for the "elitest pricks" that you talk so highly of, that is why there are people checking tickets on our asiles. i dont know what you mean by elitest prircks by i mean anyone who was kean enough to by a fever pass or use this forum, not one or two people like you think.

as feverish said, I never did or would tell them to shut up, when starting a chant. im just expressing that I think it didnt work because of the people who were starting it.

Im pretty sure the feverzone is for anyone who has a ticket to sit/stand in the feverzone. They have people checking tickets at the aisle, not because its an exclusive club but because in season one it got too overcrowded and was very cramped for space,so this way the maximum people that can get in is the amount of seats there are for those people.

Last time i checked you dont have to be a member on this forum to get into the feverzone. You are not any more special than any other fan just because you post in here. So yes,the feverzone IS for joe bloggs as well as forum members who would know about the santy thing. Its for anyone who wants to support the team ffs.
